Ahhh...sweet July, you are here! I love any month in which winter coats are a distant memory and July is my absolute favorite.

I am just back from Chicago where I lead my Summer Acting Intensive for Teens for the 4th year in a row. It was a sad goodbye to some students whom I had worked with since 2011, but their successors are every bit as passionate and wonderful.

The students at both LTHS & MCHS grew so much as actors in the course of their respective workshops. The students gave me such a gift in reminding me of the strength and power of these acting tools; I was truly blown away as I watched their final pieces. Congrats! (Please see student photo below.)

For the second year I worked with fabulous LTHS director, Laura Gilbert, coaching students auditioning for the Illinois All-State Theater Festival -- this year, students auditioned for Pippin. I am thrilled to say that all five LTHS students received callbacks! (Please see final castings below.)

Back in the NYC, I'm having a great time coaching both the new & returning students in my Drop-In Acting Class. I'm also catching up with my in-person Private Acting Coaching students, and getting ready for next week's Book Club for Actors meeting focusing on the work of playwright Donald Margulies.

Come join me for any and all Art & Soul Acting events - it would be fantastic to have you there!

Sunny summer blessings,

Rhonda

What's Going on with Acting Class?
GrowFor an actor, acting class is the #1 laboratory for growth and exploration.  It is the place to take risks...a safe harbor where it's okay to let go of perfection in lieu of stretching and expanding beyond limitations.

I Got Cast in What Role?!?: Handling the Challenges of Being Cast Against Type

One of the trickiest challenges that you might face as an actor is being cast in a role that you never would have chosen for yourself. In a switch-o change-o maneuver, you go out for the girl next door and wham the next thing you know you are being offered the evil villain down the street. Who can figure!?!

Being handed a role you never expected can be a shocking experience. There may even be a temptation to turn the role down; however, it just may be a role that is actually too good to turn down. So what's an actor to do?...
