Greetings!
February celebrates the month of love...and I really love that!
In fact, love is a huge part of my teaching and coaching. It is truly my pleasure and my honor to create a safe and supported space for actors to do what they love most: act.
What astounds me most is that love is such a conscious choice. When I choose to work from a place of love it inspires my students to do the same and that openhearted place allows incomparable growth and learning.
If you're looking to add a little more love into your life (and I dare say more booked acting work!), then why not check out my next Core Acting Technique class? Class is slated to begin on March 19 and I'm currently interviewing students and bringing together a really wonderful class.

What's Going on with Acting Class?
 For an actor, acting class is the #1 laboratory for growth and exploration. It is the place to take risks...a safe harbor where it's okay to let go of perfection in lieu of stretching and expanding beyond limitations.

Core Acting Technique
Core Acting Technique is a dynamic, structured 10-week class designed to fortify and deepen the skills that go into brilliant acting while stretching students as artists and as human beings.
The artist and the art grow in tandem and Art & Soul Acting supports that process through a series of specialized exercises that go way beyond the ABC's of acting.
This powerful classroom work allows students to grow at a rapid pace while creating an acting foundation that will serve for a lifetime.
This is not a sit in your seat lecture! Students are up on their feet working in every class in a supportive environment that allows them to really take risks and fly.
Class size is kept small so that participants have time to be up on their feet working, making mistakes, learning from their mistakes and growing into ever more powerful actors.
DAY: Tuesdays
TIME: 6-10pm
DATES: March 19-May 21 (a total of 10 classes)
LOCATION: NYC - West Village Studio
FEE: $495, payable in 2 installments

What's Up with the Book Club for Actors'?
Remaining reading time - 4.5 weeks!
On Monday, March 4 & Saturday, March 9 we will be discussing the plays of Lillian Hellman.
The Book Club for Actors' is offered twice; please choose either meeting:
WHEN: Monday, March 4, 7-9:00 - East Village OR
Saturday, March 9, 3-5:00 - East Village
WHERE: Location will be e-mailed with RSVP confirmation
Please begin by reading The Children's Hour. After that, feel free to read any play from the Lillian Hellman Reading List found on the Art & Soul Acting website: Joe Orton Reading List . For the most robust conversation, participants are asked to read at least 3-4 plays.
Be ready to share what you have discovered about this amazing playwright so we can all learn and grow together.

Summer Acting Intensive for Teens?
|
 Art & Soul Acting travels! The Summer Acting Intensive for Teens is a one-of-a-kind traveling professional acting workshop. Teens spend a week training like the pros! Created in 2011-but dreamed about for a long time-the aim of this workshop is to bring acting training to teens who might not otherwise have the opportunity to study professionally.
The group activities made me feel as one with my fellow actors in the workshop, and I believe the trusting bond was carried on from the stage to everyday life. I made friends, improvements, and most importantly memories to last a lifetime.

Summer 2013 will feature both Level I & Level II:
- Level I -- Core Acting Technique: Intense focus on the core elements that go into powerful acting.
- Level II -- The Audition Process: Includes monologues, cold readings and college audition prep. Prerequisites: Level I.

Mastering the Audition Juggernaut
An Affordable, Weeklong, 35-Hour Intensive Acting Workshop for Actors in Cape Town, South Africa
It has been said that to be a great actor you only need to know how to do 10 things really well... but you have to do all of them at the same time.Auditions present a particular challenge to the actor. Not only do actors need to be fully present and do their very best acting on demand, but they also need to expertly handle the pressures of an audition room such that they slow down those precious 2 minutes and use them to their best advantage. Actors have been told a thousand times over, "Be confident!" "Be yourself!" "Have fun!" Well, that just doesn't cut it. Left out of the equation is the critical HOW to actually do those things...and how to do them all within a limited span of time. Mastering The Audition Juggernaut steps outside the box to approach mastering these mandatory skills from several angles. This is an on your feet workshop, not a sit in your seat lecture. Over the course of 6 days, actors will engage in a series of dynamic and expressive acting exercises designed to recalibrate the way they approach auditions. Perspective: Step Back and Admire the View
Have you ever stood in front of a painting in a museum with your nose pressed up to the proverbial do-not-touch-this-painting wall to have a really up-close, in-depth look? As you view the painting from a close distance you may notice tiny brushstrokes, intricate textures and surprising colors layered one on top of the other. And, perhaps, at that proximity the picture itself is completely distorted and may even look like alien life from another planet.
However, when you step back and see the painting from a distance, it is as if everything comes together magically...

O Sole Mio, 5 Keys to Creating a Fabulous Solo Show  My sun! I don't know Italian, but somehow I always suspected that "o sole mio" meant "O, I am so alone." No, it doesn't mean that at all. It means my sun. I came up with the title of this article and then thought I'd do a little research to back up my thinking. No such luck, but how apropos in describing what it feels like to step into creating a solo show...
