S.A.L.A.M. Summer Ministry Tours Report

What a privilege we had in coordinating two incredible summer ministry tours and facilitating a group of student volunteers! We had no way of knowing how intense  the situation would become in the Middle East, but God in His wisdom knew and prepared these teams to bear witness of His power and love during a very critical time in Israel/Palestine.

Baptist Collegiate Ministry of Southeastern Oklahoma

  • 10 students and 2 leaders began volunteering in June with Bethlehem Bible College in the West Bank. During their time in Bethlehem, they participated in ministry outreach in Nativity Square and helped with kids camps.
  • In July, they traveled to Nazareth to work with SALAM ministry partner SERVE Nazareth where they participated in community outreach and volunteering at Nazareth Village.
  • On July 19, the team was pulled back and returned home earlier than expected due to rising violence in the area.

  • SALAM coordinated a Holy Land ministry tour with our partner Twins Tours in Jerusalem. Rani was able to attend as the tour host along with 24 members of  FUMC.
  • The trip included a portion of sight-seeing as well as opportunities to meet with indigenous Arab Christians leaders such as Pastor Rajai Samawei of Back to Jerusalem ministry and Dr Jack Sara, President of Bethlehem Bible College.

  • This whirlwind ministry tour with Operation Care was by far the largest effort coordinated by SALAM. Rani again attended as tour host, coordinator and translator. The goal of the trip was to reach 5,000 children in 10 days through 20 events in 10 cities in Israel, the Palestinian Territories and Jordan. We were successful in reaching this goal despite worsening conflict in the region.
  • The first few camps in Jordan alone reached over 2,000 children. This far exceeded our expectations! The influx of Syrian refugees meant thousands of children needing help. Seeing the faces of these precious children as they listened, along with their mothers in many cases, to the Gospel of Jesus Christ was incredible.
  • Two kids camps were canceled due to rioting and rocket fire. Despite these difficulties, God was faithful and our team was able to distribute all the backpacks and supplies.
  • Operation Care served alongside local Arab and Messianic ministries in their efforts to reach the children of Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Territories. The love of Christ was shared through kids activities, music, drama and through the washing of feet. Even the bus drivers pitched in to help!
  • In the midst of war, anger and hate, the love of God prevailed through the lives of this small team. THANK YOU for your fervent prayers on our behalf!

God is on the move in the Middle East among Arabs and He is using the Body of Christ in the Middle East to make His name known. Through these ministry tours, we hope to encourage fellow believers to remember Arab Christians in prayer and whenever possible, join with them in their struggles and triumphs.

Please Pray
  • Pray for Rani as he begins his FINAL semester of seminary in August.
  • Pray for our family and for our ministry as we fervently seek the Lord's direction for the coming year. We have some very big decisions to make and we need prayers for wisdom, guidance and the courage to take a step of faith!
  • As Rani expands his ministry among Muslims, we need a strong network of committed prayer warriors.
  • Pray for the conflict in Israel/Palestine and for the persecuted Christians in the Middle East!
