LOCAL NEWS

LGBT Health Fair a Great Success

WCMS' Blake Ross played a key role in organizing Western NC's first ever LGBT health fair which took place on November 17th. 32 Western North Carolina health service organizations and providers came together at the First Congregational UCC in downtown Asheville to discuss the healthcare needs of LGBT patients. Providers were able to share experiences and best practices, as well as build capacity to improve the health and well being of LGBT patients who are recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a vulnerable population in need of additional support.
Breast & Cervical Cancer Control Program for Uninsured
Do you know women age 21- 64 without insurance? They may be eligible for free breast and cervical cancer screening.

Contact your County's BCCCP & WW Provider at Buncombe County Health & Human Services at 828-250-6006.

Diagnosis of the cancer must not be made prior to the patient becoming a NCBCCCP client. Prior diagnosis will result in patient ineligibility for the BCCM Medicaid. Call BCCCP immediately when you have an uninsured patient with a breast problem so that they may receive the BCCCP Medicaid.
