Officials Break Ground for New McDowell Hospital
McDowell News
"The ultimate goal of Mission Health System is to have healthy communities," said Kathy Guyette, senior vice president of Patient Care Services and president of Regional Member Hospitals with Mission Health. "One way we plan to approach Population Health is through a focus on outpatient access so that we keep people out of the hospital. We've begun focusing on this in the past two years by working to provide additional access points for primary care."

Women in Medicine Enjoyed a Great Discussion

The Women in Medicine Affinity Group met last Thursday, October 29th, at Travinia Italian Kitchen. Dr. Lisa Banker shared her career story about piecing together various positions to make her career work for her schedule and priorities. She led an engaged conversation about how women can wear many hats throughout their medical career and leadership roles for female physicians. Thanks to Medical Mutual for making this event possible!
Medicare Reimbursement for End of Life Discussions with Patients
The Obama administration on Friday issued a final rule that will allow Medicare to reimburse physicians for end-of-life discussions with patients. The change was included in CMS' proposed updates to the 2016 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. The rule will take effect on Jan. 1, 2016. Meanwhile, CMS said it will not make any changes to its two-midnight rule, under which a hospital admission is assumed to be appropriate for a Medicare Part A payment if a physician expects a patient's treatment to require a two-night hospital stay and admits the patient under that assumption. Your time was being magnificently wasted and there was absolutely nothing you could do. It wasn't your meeting - you weren't the one leading it ! ARGGGGGHHHH

That is exactly what happens when you use the 5 questions in the Guerrilla Facilitator's Manual - our latest resource here at TheHappyMD.

These 5 questions are so subtle, yet so powerful that everyone will thank you afterwards ... including the meeting leader.
