Is your practice taking new patients? - Help us keep our webpage up to date
With practices opening and closing all across WNC, patients are often trying to figure out which primary care practices are taking new patients.  WCMS frequently gets phone calls asking about this.

We refer patients to this website to find a primary care physician taking patients that works for them.  Please take a moment to review the information on this webpage and send any updates/changes to kristina@mywcms.org.

Please include the following info for the webpage:
  • Practice name
  • Phone number
  • Are you accepting new patients?
  • What payers do you accept?
  • Other notes

WCMS to Re-run Project Access® Thank You ad in Sunday Citizen Times

Project Access® would like to thank all physicians who volunteered in 2014. We appreciate all the hard work and dedication that you provide to

our hundreds of Project Access® clients. This program saves lives and is in existence because of the generosity of our volunteer physicians and their staff.  We are so grateful to these physicians and feel they deserve public recognition and praise for their generosity.

Regrettably, due to an internal systematic error in our database, some volunteer physician names were not included in the ad we originally ran at the beginning of July. We're so sorry that this happened!

We've worked hard to correct the error in our data system. The new ad will appear in the Sunday Citizen Times on 8/9/15. If you find an error, please contact us and we will be sure to thank you publicly in our next e-Newsletter. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

On behalf of the Project Access® team, I would like to say thank you.

With gratitude,

Shaneka Simmons, Project Access/Health Access Coordinator

These lists are posted here. Please share these lists with patients and send updated information to sarah.thach@mahec.net Let us know what you think of the lists and how you use them!

CMS Announces Proposal to Cover Provider/Patient Time for Conversations About End-of-life Care

Recently The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced plans to cover provider/patient time for conversations about end-of-life care when "reasonable and necessary for the diagnosis or treatment of illness or injury." Read the full proposal at Revisions to Payment Policies for CY 2016. CMS is currently seeking public comment on this proposal including "whether payment for advance care planning is appropriate in other circumstances such as an optional element, at the beneficiary's discretion, of the annual wellness visit (AWV) ..." To share your thoughts about this proposal and whether these conversations are critical for families and their aging loved ones before a health crisis, go to Revisions to Payment Policies under the Physician Fee Schedule and Other Revisions to Part B for CY 2016 or mail written comments to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Department of Health and Human Services, CMS-1612-P 2, Attention: CMS-1631-P, P.O. For answers to these and other intriguing questions, Medscape surveyed more than 1700 residents in 24 specialties from May 14 through June 22, 2015.
