Independent Physician Affinity Group: Learn about CCNC's New Clinically Integrated Network  (March 3)
All Independent Physicians are invited to an affinity group meeting on March 3.  This is a time to network with other physicians and receive valuable information.

Topic: New Clinically Integrated Network (CIN) coming to North Carolina. Hear a brief presentation about the new CIN, Community Physicians of North Carolina (CPNC), which is faciliated by Community Care of NC (CCNC) and then engage in a question and answer session about the new CIN and other ACO-related questions.

When: Tuesday, March 3 from 6pm - 8pm

Panel for Q&A:
  • Dr. Chip Watkins- Senior Physician Consultant with CCNC
    • Dr. Watkins will present information about the new Community Physicians of North Carolina and help answer questions about this new CIN

    • Denise will also help answer questions about this new CIN as a CCNC representative

Leading Healthcare Organizations: Optimizing Clinical & Financial Performance While Finding Joy in Practice

"Given the changes in the healthcare landscape and the challenges that lie ahead, there is a great sense of urgency to identify and develop physician leaders who can effectively position their organizations for success" (Len Fromer, MD, Executive Medical Director of Group Practice Forum).

MAHEC's Physician Leadership Academy is a three part curriculum designed to help physicians and advanced care practitioners realize their own leadership potential and develop the skills need to address challenges within healthcare. Built with the busy provider in mind, the curriculum is delivered using a flipped classroom model-independent readings, video presentations, assessments and inventories will be accessed online and completed prior to monthly in-person training sessions.

Course curriculum is divided into three types of leadership: Individual Leadership, Collaborative Leadership, and Organization & System Leadership. Lectures, activities, and independent self-study assignments will focus on strengthening intrapersonal and interpersonal awareness and skill, support networking and synergy, and demonstrate strategic and operational thinking.

WNCPA William Bruce Awards 2015 Honors Physicians and Neuropsychologist

 

On Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at the Grovewood Café, Asheville, the WNC Psychological Association hosted their 19th William Bruce Awards Dinner honoring Dr. Duff Rardin, Dr. Peggy Noel, and Dr. Mark Hill. The dinner began in 1994 and has since become an annual event for Western North Carolina's psychologists and physicians interested in the art of interdisciplinary collaboration.  The theme for this year was "The Reign of the Brain: Celebrating Neurology, Neuropsychology, and Psychology" with guest speaker John Boyle, "The Answer Man" and journalist for the Asheville-Citizen Times.  Deirdre Christy, Ph.D., WNCPA president presided.

New Regional Comprehensive Care Center to Provide Mental Health, Addiction Treatment

February 2, 2015 - A Buncombe County community partnership has succeeded in securing just under $2 million in grant funding from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services to open a new 24-hour urgent care center and crisis facility for mental health and addiction treatment in Asheville.

The funding was awarded through the department's Crisis Solutions Initiative, a statewide effort to improve mental health and substance use crisis services. Smoky Mountain LME/MCO (Smoky), which manages public funds for behavioral health and developmental disability services in western North Carolina, led a collaborative effort involving 22 area organizations to develop the new center.

Mission Health and Asheville Radiology Announce New Collaboration 

Mission Health and Asheville Radiology Associates (ARA) are announcing a new collaboration to improve patient access to state of the art, high quality, highly efficient imaging centers close to home, and to more than 40 ARA physicians.  These changes will improve access and choice for patients who may now select to have their mammography, MRI or other diagnostic services performed in the hospital-based or outpatient setting that best meets their needs.
