NATIONAL NEWS

Online marketplace website

With just about eight weeks before the health insurance exchanges are scheduled to begin open enrollments, HHS has launched a new website and rolled out a series of education videos and infographics to promote the online marketplaces. During a teleconference with the media yesterday on a wide range of topics related to the Affordable Care Act, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said U.S. residents can now create user accounts on the website in preparation for open enrollment on Oct. 1. Consumers also can peruse general information about the exchanges, but they will not be able to sign up for coverage for a few weeks. Sebelius reiterated that the exchanges will be ready for enrollment on time. (Sources: Kaiser Health News' "Capsules," 8/5; AP/Sacramento Bee, 8/5; USA Today, 8/5)
