Emeritus Quarterly Luncheon (8/14)

The next meeting of the Emeritus Chapter will be held on Wednesday, August 14th 11:30am at the Doubletree Biltmore Hotel near Biltmore Village. Our speaker will be Dr. Frank Moretz of AllCare Clinical Associates (formerly Asheville Anesthesia Associates) and current President of the WCMS Association. Dr. Moretz will speak to us about the State of the Western Carolina Medical Society and answer any questions you have related to the Society. As always, meet and greet at 11:30am with lunch at noon and the talk to follow. Look for invitations this week!

WCMS Early Career Physicians' Section (8/15)

If you are a WNC physician within your first 10 years of practice, come out for beer and wine and join the WCMS Early Career Physicians' Section on Thursday, August 15th at 6pm at Highland Brewing Company. AMA: Upcoming Congressional August recess provides physicians prime grassroots opportunity
|
Congress will begin its traditional five-week summer recess on August 3, providing physicians with a timely and valuable opportunity to meet with lawmakers on key issues. Specifically, recent committee hearings and legislative proposals focused on repeal of the SGR formula and the future of physician payment models require urgent action by physicians as lawmakers return home to interact with constituents.
In the coming days, stay tuned to the Physicians' Grassroots Network for the latest information and action alert for physicians, including extensive talking points on repealing the SGR and steps physicians can take to effectively communicate with their elected officials over the next five weeks.
