Ramping Up Against SGR

Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans on Friday released another update of proposed draft legislation that would permanently repeal and replace the sustainable growth rate formula -- which determines Medicare physician reimbursement rates -- with plans to begin work on the measure this month. Employer Mandate Delayed

The Obama administration yesterday announced that it will postpone for one year the Affordable Care Act's employer mandate. Under the provision, employers with at least 50 workers beginning in 2014 would have been required to provide affordable health coverage or face a fine of as much as $3,000 per employee. The White House said it would delay enforcement of the mandate until 2015 in an attempt to address business groups' concerns over the reporting requirements. The administration described the delay as a move to simplify the reporting process for businesses. (Sources: Bloomberg, 7/2; New York Times, 7/2; Washington Post, 7/2)

Pertinent information and analyses on Health Benefit Exchanges/Marketplaces, QHPs, Enrollment, etc.

This document is a wealth of information and helpful to us as we try to understand various components of health reform implementation.  It was written by Lee Dixon, Director, Policy Research and Development, CCNC: "During the past 3 months, I have been gathering, reading, and analyzing information on ACA, Health Benefit Exchanges/Marketplaces, Qualified Health Plans, Enrollment, Employers, etc. Recently, I compiled that information into the attached 12-page document entitled "Pertinent Information and Analyses," It was intended just for my use, but several of you encouraged me to share it. I hope the information in this document is informative and fills in gaps, as the October 1, 2013 enrollment date comes closer. Disclaimer: I have endeavored to present objective and unbiased information and analyses in the document and the information should be attributed to me and not any entity, consortium, or organization."
