DEPARTMENT CORNER
Please join us in welcoming Michelle Springer to the Department of Human Services.

Michelle joined the Department in July as a Program Specialist for the HOME Program.  Prior to this Michelle worked at the Cape Cod Commission in the HOME Program.  We are thrilled to have Michelle join the Department.
PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY
On Saturday, September 26th from 10 A.M. - 2 P.M., thousands of pounds of prescription drugs will be disposed of safely across Cape Cod during the 10th Annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day thanks to the dedication and hard work of our town's Police Departments.

We know unused prescription medications in homes create a public health and safety concern because they can be accidentally ingested, stolen, misused, and abused. And with recent water quality studies on Cape Cod finding medications at detectable levels, the Rx Take-Back Day helps divert unwanted medications from being flushed down the toilet where they contaminate our ground and drinking water. September 26th provides a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing prescription drugs, while educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications and the importance of protecting the Cape's natural environment. So drop off your unwanted or unused medications at any Cape Cod Police Department on Saturday, September 26th. No paperwork to fill out, no questions asked.
Please view & post flyer.

This event is
proudly sponsored by your local Police Department, Gosnold on Cape Cod, Cape Cod Healthcare, and the Barnstable County Regional Substance Abuse Council.

WORKING ON WELLNESS - A PREVENTION & WELLNESS TRUST FUND INITIATIVE
Employers Take Note!   Massachusetts Working on Wellness (WoW) Funding Opportunity.

There is a new opportunity for Massachusetts businesses to engage in worksite wellness funded by Chapter 224, Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund dollars.

Massachusetts Working on Wellness (WoW) supports employers in implementing comprehensive, evidence-based worksite health initiatives.  The program provides employers with expert training, technical assistance, an on-line learning community, and seed funding to help offset the cost of starting a wellness program. This is an excellent opportunity for employers to invest in the health of their employees and community.  Keep in mind, "employer" in this context is not limited to a for-profit business; non-profits are eligible to participate too.

At this time, DPH is actively promoting the program and recruiting businesses for the October 2015 cohort.

1.  The application deadline is October 9, 2015.

2.  Additional informational webinars have also been set up.  Interested employers can view webinar dates & register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/rt/8692430334892060930
