YMCA DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM
The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program helps adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes reduce their risk for developing the disease by taking steps that will improve their overall health and well-being.  Research by the National Institutes of Health has shown that programs like the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program can reduce the number of new cases of type 2 diabetes by 58% and 71% in adults over the age of 60.

We meet in a supportive, small group setting and have two goals for the program which is to lose 7% of your body weight and increase physical activity to 150 minutes per week. Come and learn about healthier eating and increasing physical activity to reduce risk of developing type 2 diabetes. We meet for an hour a week for 16 weeks and then will meet monthly for 8 months.

Classes are forming now in both our YMCA Cape Cod West Barnstable location as well as in Mashpee, Bourne and Falmouth. Please contact Patience Smith-Cabrera, YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program Coordinator at 508-362-6500, ext 136 to qualify.  View flyer.
