FROM THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE | |
Juvenile and Youthful Diversion
The Juvenile Diversion Program is an early intervention program that seeks to provide an early intervention with first-time juvenile offenders as an alternative to the court process.
This voluntary program begins with an intensive intake process including substance abuse and mental health evaluations in order to make referrals to appropriate services such as counseling, educational programs, and community service. Upon successful completion of the Diversion Program, there will be no criminal charges on the juvenile's record.
The Cape and Islands District Attorney's office has been running this program for over ten years, and in that time more than 2,000 juveniles and 500 youths (aged 18-21) have entered the program.
Safe Prom and Graduation
District Attorney Michael O'Keefe asks that you join in the efforts to ensure that the upcoming Graduation and Prom Season is a safe one for all students as well as the community.
Parents can play an important role in prevention efforts. You have a legal duty to exercise reasonable care to prevent your minor children from inflicting harm on themselves or others. Read more ....
