Thank you for subscribing to the monthly Scouter Focus. This along with the Council website are the primary methods we use to share information with all of our Scouting volunteers, families, and alumni. We ask if you know of someone who does not currently receive this information, you use the forward function at the bottom of this newsletter to pass it on.

I thank you for your service to our youth!

Scouting for Food

In 2013, 2500 Scouts and Scouters from the Pennsylvania Dutch Council collected over 135,000 pounds of food for local pantries during the BSA's largest national good turn, Scouting For Food.  In 2014, we know we can blow that number out of the water! To do it, we need to start planning and coordinating now to help ensure that every home in our communities receives a bag and is asked to make a donation.

Individual Youth Accounts

BSA Corp Logo

Many of our units provide individual youth accounts for their members who participate in fundraising activities throughout the year. There have been numerous questions about how the IRS Private Benefit Rule applies to these accounts.  Follow the link below to read more about these accounts.   Please remember individual youth accounts are not separate bank accounts, but simply an accounting of money raised by a youth in a particular unit.

If you have any questions please email Ed Rasmuson or call him at 717-553-4211.

Life to Eagle Seminar: Get the info you NEED for your journey from Life to Eagle.

The Council Advancement Committee will be offering a free Life to Eagle Seminar on Thursday, November 20th at 7:00 pm and will take place at the Council Service Center, Blair Room, 630 Janet Ave, Lancaster.

Life to Eagle Seminars are intended to help Scouts, Parents, and Unit Leaders understand the process and all steps involved in progressing from Life to Eagle. Many critical changes have been made to the Eagle Scout Advancement process over the last few years, so if you're a Scout working towards the rank of Eagle, a Unit Leader guiding Scouts through the Eagle process, or the parent of a Scout working towards Eagle, you are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to attend this valuable seminar.

The Eagle Scout Service Project, Eagle Application, and Eagle Board of Review process will all be covered. The Council Advancement Committee encourages anyone that is interested to attend, and no registration is necessary.
