Notes from the Main Office
Child Outreach screenings around the corner
There will be a free Child Outreach Screenings for children in Pre-School, Pre-K, and Kindergarten on April 8 and 9. The program provides families with information about their child's development and offers information about other resources that are available in the community.
There are five components of the screening: - Developmental: movement, language, thinking, socialization, and behavior.
- Speech: self-expression, articulation.
- Hearing
- Vision - a screening using an eye chart, probably very similar to the eye chart at your pediatrician's office.
- Social/Emotional - this screening is a questionnaire that you are asked to fill out in helping us to determine the needs of your child, if any, in this area.
Permission slips will be sent home soon with your children.

Two teachers promoted
After much discussion on the school and board levels, we are happy to announce that the Education Director position for 2013/14 will be shared by two of our current faculty leaders: Adeline Broussan and Audrey Talarico. Both will do a little teaching as well. Both of them are currently in a training at Harvard to prepare for next year. Congratulations!
At this time, we can also announce that Martine Dunn, our school secretary, will leave at the end of the school year to pursue other opportunities. We wish her the best.
Please keep an eye on the Weekly News as plans for 2013/14 develop. Merci.

Send postcards to Kindergarten
Celine Cyr's Kindergarten class is learning about the countries of the world, and they would like your help!
There are so many different nationalities represented here at FASRI. If you could have a relative overseas (or across the borders!) send our Grande Section a postcard, or if you'd like to send one while traveling over April break, it would be a great way for them to explore new places.
Please address postcards to:

Mardi Gras success!
We had a spectacular Mardi Gras last Friday. The cooking club made over 100 beignets, middle school students and other volunteers took the time to decorate, and the kids had a great time. Prizes were given for the best dancers and best costumes. Overall a lovely evening! Thank you to the school teachers and parents who generously volunteered their time and efforts to make it great.
Afterschool recital: rehearsal planned
The Musicians of Afterschool are putting on their show next week. A rehearsal is planned for tomorrow (Thursday, March 7), with a make-up date of Monday, March 12 in the event of a cancellation/early dismissal for the impending storm.
