Recently, I had the pleasure of reading and signing our students' report cards for this first trimester. Overall, I am very happy with the children's--and teacher's--hard work this first term. Congratulations on a great start to the year.
I did want to share a trend with you that I have noticed. Since September, some students have missed important instruction time, due to large numbers of tardiness, absence, and early dismissal.
Instruction time is important in monolingual schools; it is critical at FASRI. In our immersion and dual-language programs, we pack the day full of information and reinforcement in French and English. Missing large amounts of time may impact a child's progress, causing them to fall behind. It may even be necessary for them to catch up on missed concepts over the summer: a standard measure in quality independent schools.
If there are extenuating circumstances for missed time, we understand. Otherwise, in the interest of the children's learning and language acquisition, please do try and keep missed class time to a minimum for these next two terms.
Thank you for your collaboration and understanding on this matter.

NO AFTERSCHOOL DECEMBER 21
There will be no Garderie or Clubs on Friday, December 21: the day before vacation. Please plan accordingly. Merci!
Make-up photos tomorrow
There will be a make-up day for school pictures next Thursday, December 6.
Lost and Found
Is your child missing something? Please check out lost and found, located under the bench across from the Main Office. There are lots of coats and other belongings that need claiming. Anything not claimed before the holiday break will be donated. It is always helpful to label your child's coats and hats, especially in this chilly weather! Merci.

French High School Opportunity
The International School of Boston, in partnership with FASRI, has created a homestay opportunity for our graduating students. This will allow them to continue their dual-language education through Grade 12 in Boston, while staying with an ISBOS family.
Come learn more about this event on Wednesday, December 19, at 7:00 PM here at the school. ISBOS upper school head Ms. Geraldine Guillermin will be on hand to present the program, and the high school, and answer questions.
RSVP, please! Merci.

Each year, FASRI welcomes French teaching students to observe and participate in our unique dual-language program. These interns are usually here for about a month, and our families generously volunteer to open their homes to them for the duration of their time in Providence.
We have three interns coming in late February this year, and they will stay until the end of March. These students are responsible and self-sufficient and do not require much more from the host families than a room and some meals.
This cultural exchange is always enjoyable and beneficial to the interns and the hosts. If you are interested, please contact Kate Gorton: kgorton@fasri.org.

The elementary and middle school classrooms are open regularly during homeroom for parents to visit. This is a great chance for you to walk your child to class and have a tour of their environment.
The day for each cycle is provided in orange in the "Save the Date" section (left-hand sidebar). We hope to see you soon!

Great Grant News & Beaujolais Updates
- FASRI has been awarded $3,500 from Ocean State Charities Trust towards the purchase of a new Smartboard for one of the elementary classrooms. One of the features of a strong grant application is a strong school community, demonstrated by the 79% parent participation we achieved last year in the FASRI Fund. Your participation last year helped us be successful with this grant, thank you so much!
- CONGRATULATIONS to Audrey Talarico's first grade class! They sold sixty-one raffle tickets for the Beaujolais Festival, the most sold in all of the classes. They will get a fun pizza party to celebrate.
