No School Friday and Monday
Just a reminder that Friday is our first faculty day of the year, and Monday is Columbus Day. Enjoy the extra-long weekend!
RI Election Days: No Student Bus Service
RI public schools are closed on election days, meaning there will be no school buses for FASRI students on November 6. Please plan accordingly.
Morning Drop-Off
The school side of John Street is a fire lane. For safety reasons, there can be no parking at any time, especially during drop-off.
As you would at the airport, please do not exit your car when dropping off your children. Pull up, park, let them exit (with help from our student volunteers, if needed), and exit the drop-off line carefully.
Lunch Tickets
Hot lunch ticket prices are as follow:
- Petite Section - Grade 3: $7.00
- Grades 4 - 8: $8.00

From the Head of School's Desk
Fact or fiction?
News spreads quickly in a small school like ours, and so can harmful rumors. Each of us--faculty, administrators, parents and friends--has the task of supporting the school's mission and values. This includes going to the source with our concerns, especially if we aren't sure if the information we have heard is true. In a dual-language school, this is especially important, as children are more likely to misunderstand and misinterpret situations taking place in the language they are learning.
I speak specifically of a few discipline incidents we had last week. I can assure you that our staff handled each issue appropriately and professionally, in the presence of other school officials. In situations when you are not sure if the information you have heard is accurate, please contact a teacher or the Head of School, as appropriate.
We have a great community of caring people, so let's work together to spread truth and positivity instead of rumors which can hurt us. If you have real questions or concerns about anything at FASRI, my door is always open.
Faculty Day topics
This Friday is our first in-service day for faculty and staff of the 2012/13 school year. The topic will be engaging boys in the 21st Century, and on handling difficult personalities/situations within a school setting.
Head of School class visits
Every Wednesday morning--and at other times when I can--I have the chance to visit the classrooms to see how the students and teachers are interacting. There are lots of great things happening all over the school, and I've found our students engaged and excited about learning.
