FROM SUPERINTENDENT MUSSOLINE
Every January, I have the opportunity to say thank you to the nine community members who work diligently as School Board Directors. January is designated National School Board Recognition Month by both The Pennsylvania School Board's Association and the National School Boards Association. Elected to four year terms, these nine folks bring a wide variety of talent and expertise to the table, as they help us chart our educational course for the future.
School directors volunteer, on average, 20 to 30 hours a month to help run the schools in our community. The school board makes difficult decisions for the betterment of our students, teachers and the general community they serve. They vote on multi-million dollar budgets, hire staff, select textbooks, review bus schedules and curriculum, to name a few.
Thank you to President Colleen Cranney, Vice President Carl Croft, Barbara Albright, Jane Bertone, David Kring, Jaime Mehler, Ted Rauth, Suzanne Simonelli and Robert Yorcyzk for time, effort, and dedication to public education's advancement.

"Dressed" for a cause
DHS West Assistant Principal Ilana Shipe participated in the national "Dressember" movement and wore the same dress to school from December 1st to January 4th. She did so to bring attention to one of her favorite causes - the International Justice Mission. The International Justice Mission is a nonprofit that rescues victims of trafficking, slavery and violent oppression.
Mrs. Shipe helped raised over $6200 from her colleagues and community members for this great cause.
