Chamber Hosts Record Keeping Workshop - February 19th
Date: Tuesday, February 19th
Time: 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Location: Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce
Cost: $10/person (Includes lunch)
Instructor: Pat Wirthlin, Human Resources Director at BBSI
There are more than two dozen regulations that govern some aspect of employer recordkeeping and retention. What should you keep, and not keep, in your employees' personnel files? How long are you required to maintain these records? What records should never be retained? What do you do when an employee demands to see and make a copy of their personnel file?
Hosted by the SACC, this lunch and learn will answer these questions and address the best practices of maintaining and retaining employee-related records such as applications, background checks, work history, disciplinary notices, payroll data, medical information, and workplace injury records, to name a few.
Pat Wirthlin is the Human Resources Director at BBSI. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Minnesota, over 20 years' experience in human resources, and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources through the Society for Human Resources Management.

JOIN US FOR A CITY CLEANUP-SACC wants to give trash a two punch approach!
ONE: Spring is almost here! Let's get Salisbury ready for beautiful weather, visitors, and outdoor activities. We had a lot of wind over the last couple of months and litter and debris has been gathering in very visible areas. It's time to take action and clean it up! The SACC Beautification Committee is planning a CLEANUP DAY on Saturday, April 13, 2013. We need your help to talk it up with your friends, co-workers, neighborhood association, or club members and then form a team and volunteer to work together for 2-3 hours cleaning up an area of town. If we all pitch in, it would really make a beautiful difference in how our community and neighborhoods look. There is no cost to participate, just your time and enthusiasm. E-mail Donna Griffith at donnag@salisburyarea.com if you would like more details when they are available.
TWO: Also, on April 13th from 9 A.M. to 11:30 A.M., the Chamber's Eastern Shore Business Leadership Network is hosting the 4th Annual Able to Work Salisbury Zoo Spring Cleanup to raise awareness that people with disabilities can and want to work and give back to their community. Sponsored teams made up of people of all abilities work together in this labor of love for our community zoo. This fun filled morning will go on rain or shine. To ask about corporate sponsorship opportunities, call Jackie Gast at ESBLN 410-749-0144 or visit esbln.org. Space is limited! |
