Indoor Collections
An assortment of plants found in our indoor collections.

As the weather begins to cool down the Garden's indoor collections become increasingly appealing. During the summer the warmth of the Tropical House can be, well, steamy and tropical. On cool November mornings that warmth is particularly inviting.

The Garden has three indoor collections that are open to the public: the Tropical House, the Orchid Fern and Carnivorous Plant House, and the Arid House.

The Tropical House collection includes many food plants from

around the world, such as black pepper and cinnamon. Look for them to the left as you come in.

The Orchid, Fern and Carnivorous Plant House contains a rotating display of choice plants, including beautiful blooming orchids, ferns with fascinating leaf patterns, and the ever popular insect-eating plants.

The Arid House collection includes succulents and cacti from around the world.

When you're visiting this fall and winter and want to warm up, stop in and explore these collections. Many new discoveries await you inside!

Propagator's Choice

Hastingsia alba, White Rushlily
Hastingsia alba by Tom Hilton

In late spring, this lily relative from the mountain meadows of

northern California produces 3' spikes of white flowers rising from a grassy tuft of thin, green leaves. Plant it in full sun to part shade. It prefers moist conditions. It is rather uncommon in the commercial trade. We are selling one gallon pots with multiple bulbs for $5.00/pot.

Our California Native Propagation area will be stopping Thursday propagation area sales for a while. We were very successful with recent sales and will be building inventory. We will, however, be stocking our Plant Deck which is open from 9 am - 4:30 pm every day the Botanical Garden is open. Keep reading our On the Deck or Clippings e-mails for updates on our reopening, or check:
