A Message from the President

Dear women of Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis and our loyal supporters,

Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis president Beth Thomas
Do you love surprises? In the January newsletter I announced we would be granting $147,000 in June. But that was before we received a few surprises in our January mail. Now I'm pleased to announce that number has gone up to $155,000. I don't know about you, but I think an extra $8,000 in membership donations we weren't expecting is a great surprise.

Want another one? We have 177 members this year, including 44 new members. But the surprise is the fact that we had a membership retention rate of 82% from 2015 to 2016. That is the largest retention rate in our eleven-year history. This is one of the things we'll be celebrating at our March 23 "Welcome New Members" party (more information below).

And I'm not done yet. Late last year we renewed the trademark on our tagline "The Power of Women Giving as One." The board of directors determined we should have a copyright symbol at the end of the trademarked line, so the board asked the marketing and communications team to add it to our logo. The board thought it might also be time to update our logo, and tasked Kelly Hartman, the committee chair, with delivering some ideas. Kelly didn't disappoint us, and presented us an updated logo with a new color and a twist on the old one. The Board approved the new logo and the artwork is being finalized. We'll be revealing that new logo in the next few months, so keep an eye out for our new look.

Here's hoping you have had a few wonderful surprises yourself, and to more in the weeks and months to come.

Nonprofits Asked to Submit Full Grant Proposal
by Kathy Jenkins, Grants Co-Chair

Our 2016 grants cycle is in full swing, with more than seventy members serving on focus area committees. Thus far the committees have met twice and reviewed the 56 letters of inquiry that were received from nonprofits in the Indianapolis metropolitan area. After careful scrutiny, the committees have requested that the following organizations submit full grant proposals by March 11, 2016:
  • After Care for Indiana (AIM)
  • Agape Therapeutic Riding
  • Arts for Learning/Young Audiences
  • Art with a Heart
  • Cancer Support Community
  • Classical Music Society of Indianapolis
  • Crane House
  • Direct Employers Association Foundation
  • Dove Recovery House for Women
  • Exodus Refugee Immigration
  • ICAN
  • Indy Fringe
  • Kids Dance Outreach
  • Lutheran Child and Family Services
  • Prevail, Inc.
  • Safe Families for Children
  • Starfish Initiative
We look forward to reviewing proposals from these groups doing innovative and compelling work in our community. We also thank all of the organizations that submitted Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) this year and encourage them to apply again in the future. It is a privilege for Impact 100 Indianapolis to partner with the outstanding nonprofits working to improve lives in the Indianapolis area.
Welcome New Members Party

We have 44 new members this year, and it's time to give them a hearty welcome to Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis. This event is open to all members and their guests, and is a great opportunity for new members to meet other members in a social setting, and for members who haven't been to an event in the past few years to reconnect.

The event will be held at Rock Steady Boxing, 6847 Hillsdale Court, Indianapolis, from 5:30-7:30pm on Wednesday, March 23. Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) was our 2010 $100,000 Grant Winner, and we promise good food from Eat Your Heart Out Catering as well as the chance to watch an RSB class during the event. Invitations were recently sent. If you did not receive an invitation, please contact Terry Mumford
Save the Date! Start Planning Now for the Impact 100 Annual Dinner

Make sure your calendar is set for our Annual Dinner and Grant Presentation on Tuesday, June 7, at The Willows on Westfield. Invitations will be sent later in the spring. We look forward to seeing you there!
Paying Your Membership Dues in Installments

Many of our members (and potential members) may not realize that we allow members to pay their dues in installments. The most common installment plan is to pay $250 when making your membership commitment, a second $250 on October 1, and the final $500 on December 1, but you can come up with any installment plan that works for you. You can also fill out your membership form and ask us to invoice you on December 1 so you don't forget. All the information is on our membership form. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with member chair Terry Mumford.
