Impact 100 Selects Social Health Association as 2014 Grantee 

 

Impact 100 awarded $100,000 to the Social Health Association (SHA) of Indiana to launch an anti-bullying program. "Impact 100 is honored to support this new SHA  initiative," said Impact 100 President Karen Holly.   Tonja Eagan, SHA CEO says,  "Bullying is not the same as bullying in previous generations.  Impact 100's investment will empower over 31,000 boys and girls in Marion County and surrounding areas to learn to communicate more effectively, maintain healthier relationships and significantly reduce bullying and violence in our schools and community.  In essence we will teach kids how to be kind."

 

Other 2014 finalists that each received a $4,500 unrestricted grant are:

  • Big Car Collaborative-DoSeum Launch
  • Lutheran Child and Family Services-Youth Build-Indy Build Project
  • Indianapolis Parks Foundation-Indy Urban Acres
  • John P. Craine House-Backyard and Park Project 

Since it began in 2006 Impact 100 has granted $1,418,000 to local nonprofit organizations.

Impact 100 Social Events Begin: Each One Bring One

 

"Impact 100 is about giving-but we are also smart women who like to have fun," says Impact 100 Membership Chair Beth Thomas.

 

These events are a great opportunity to learn more about Impact 100.  To help us grow, we are asking each member to bring a guest to each event, thus the theme "Each One, Bring One."  All of the events are from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

  • July 24:           Summer Party at Bright Ideas in Broad Ripple
  • August 26:       Party on the River at the White River Yacht Club
  • September 17:  Wine and Cheese Tasting at the City Market
  • October 15:      Follow the Impact Social at Outreach
  • November 13:   Follow the Impact Social at Craine House
  • December 11:   Holiday Party Hosted by Kitchens by Design

Impact 100 News and Notes

WFYI-Impact 100 President Karen Holly and Social Health Association CEO Tonja Eagan will talk about this year's Impact 100 grant on WFYI radio 90.1 FM July 30,  5:30 p.m.  The interview will be conducted by Jay Johnson, host of All Things Considered.  Please tune in.   

A Celebration of Women 

 

 

A Celebration of Women-Impact 100 co-founder Donna Oklak will receive The Angel of Gabriel Award  September 27, 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. from the Sisters of St. Benedict OLGM.  The luncheon features a style show from Secret Ingredient and supports the ministries of Benedict Inn.  The Award honors a woman who is a messenger and helps spread the word of hope to others. Also being honored are Judy O'Bannon and Lori Hofmann.  For more information visit www.benedictine.org.

 

Grant Launch by Social Health Association

 

Social Health Association will launch Step Up for Kindness ™ on Monday, August 11, 4:30-6 p.m. with a program from 5:15-5:40 p.m.  The new program is being launched from the $100,000 Impact 100 grant awarded in June.  Kroger is sponsoring the reception and the event will be held at the Fifth Third Training Center downtown. Presenters will include Dr. Allan Beane, an internationally renowned expert on bully prevention and the author of the curriculum for the new program;  Beth Thomas,  Impact 100 Vice President; and a representative from IPS schools.  An electronic invitation will be emailed to Impact 100 members.  RSVPS are required.  For more information send an email to [email protected].
