A Message from the President

Dear Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis Members and Friends,

The moment to select the Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis 2014 Grant Recipient has arrived. A finalist from each of the five Focus Area Committees has been chosen. Here are our finalists for 2014:

  • Arts and Culture - Big Car Collaborative - DoSeum Launch
  • Education - Lutheran Child & Family Services - YouthBuild - Indy Bridge Project
  • Environment - Indianapolis Parks Foundation - Indy Urban Acres
  • Family - John P. Craine House, Inc. - Backyard and Park Project
  • Health and Wellness - Social Health Association of Indiana - Bully Free Indy Initiative
Each of the finalists will have seven minutes to tell you why they should receive this year's $100,000 grant. Please plan to join us and be a part of the decision.

Karen Holly, President
This is always a special evening for Impact 100 members. There will be a great dinner and fun raffle prizes, plus the chance to spend the evening seeing old friends and making new friends while learning more about our wonderful community. Then, of course, there's the selection of the $100,000 grant winner and seeing the IMPACT we can make together. Members shouldn't miss this chance to place their vote for this year's winner. If you are unable to attend, please continue to monitor your email for further instructions on absentee voting.

The cost for the evening is $40.00. Simply RSVP to
http://event.celebrations.com/2014AwardsDinner, and then either send your check to Jane Pratt, 645 Braeside Dr. South, Indianapolis, IN 46260, or pay online using PayPal. Note that the PayPal site asks you for a "donation" amount. This is $40 for each ticket you need for the dinner (for you and any guests).

Remember that although guests are welcome to attend, they are not eligible to vote. Please include the names of your guests on your RSVP.

All reservations must be made by May 27.

We are accepting additional donations to offset the cost of the Annual Dinner and the use of PayPal. As a nonprofit that gives away 100% of member donations, even an extra dollar or two helps!

The dinner this year is at The Willows on Westfield (formerly Riverwalk) near Broad Ripple. It's a lovely venue with plenty of parking! The address is 6729 Westfield Boulevard, Indianapolis, IN 46220.

Program:
5:30-6:15pm: Registration
6:30-7:30pm: Presentations and Voting
7:30-8:30pm: Dinner
8:30-9:00pm: Dessert/Coffee
9:00pm: Announcement of 2014 Grant Recipient

If you have not received the email invitation, please visit http://event.celebrations.com/2014AwardsDinner. If you have any questions, please contact Jane Pratt ([email protected]) or Marie Warshauer ([email protected]).

A Great Evening With Melanie Sabelhaus

Thank you so much to the Red Cross Tiffany Circle and to Melanie Sabelhaus, the Vice Chair of the National Board of the American Red Cross,

Melanie Sabelhaus
for co-hosting with Impact 100 a wonderful evening of food, fellowship, and philanthropy at the home of Impact 100 co-founder Donna Oklak on April 28.

After meeting and getting to know some truly fascinating women, including Tiffany Circle National Chair-elect Ginger Merkel, we settled in to listen to a dynamic and inspiring talk from Melanie. She reminded us that women largely run the economy, and they are at the very heart and soul of philanthropic giving. It's up to us to step up, give our time, talent and treasure, and to ask those around us to do the same-to give out loud!  As Melanie put it, "The more you give, the better you'll feel...and I want you to feel really, really good."

At the end of her talk, Melanie asked who would be joining Impact 100 that night, and seven wonderful women raised their hands to say yes!

Then Donna Oklak agreed to join Tiffany Circle!  At the end of the evening, Melanie and Ginger presented Donna with a beautiful Tiffany-inspired scarf to thank her for hosting this amazing event.

Thank you again to Melanie, Ginger, and the other great women of Tiffany Circle! Thank you also to our brand new members, as well as our current and prospective members. We really value your membership! A special thanks to Donna for working with Melanie and the Tiffany Circle to make the event possible, and for hosting us in her lovely home.

Each One Bring One

2015 is the tenth anniversary of our first grants, and to celebrate, we've set a goal to have more members and give away more money in 2015 than in any of the previous years. To help us build our membership, we're asking members to bring a guest (or two) to our events, summing it up as "Each one bring one."

This is the list of events currently scheduled. There will be more, and we'll publish those as soon as they are firm. You'll get more details for each event closer to the event date, but for now, please put these dates on your calendar:

  • July 24: Summer Party at Bright Ideas in Broad Ripple
  • August 26: Party on the River at the White River Yacht Club
    • September 17: Wine and Cheese Tasting at the City Market
    • December 11: Kitchens by Design Holiday Party

There will also be "Follow the Impact" socials in October and November (dates to be determined).

Some of our newer members may not be aware that the way Impact 100 has traditionally recruited new members is through small gatherings in members' homes, offices, neighborhood association meetings, and social clubs. These small gatherings are perfect for giving prospective members a chance to ask questions in a small group and a more comfortable setting. If you are interested in hosting a small gathering, contact Beth Thomas ([email protected]), our Membership Chair. She'll help you plan it and will be there to introduce Impact 100 and the concept of a giving circle to your guests.

We invite you to participate in our collective giving group next year so we can donate a record amount! Please consider making a gift for the 2015 grant pool in addition to your $1,000 membership. You have helped us award eleven $100,000 grants since we started in 2006, all of which have improved our community! For more information on our tenth anniversary, please contact
