Women Enjoying Beer (WEB) is the world's only company that studies women and beer. Conducting qualitative research on women and their relationship with beer, educating both consumers and professionals based on that research. Asking lots of "Why?" questions of the female consumer leads to singular insight that is immediately useful and positively impactful when utilized by the beer industry.

Fun Facts About Winter Fruits and Vegetables

Colorful Carrots

Carrots are native to Afghanistan and were the first vegetable to be canned commercially.

China produces 80% of the world's sweet potatoes.

In the winter, apple trees need to "rest" for about 900-1,000 hours below 45 degrees Fahrenheit in order to flower and fruit properly.

  • apple and pear

The pear was sacred to two goddesses in Greek mythology - Hera and Aphrodite. It was also sacred to the corresponding Roman goddesses, Juno and Venus, as well as to Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruitfulness.

"Squash" comes from the Narragansett Native American word askutasquash, which means "eaten raw or uncooked."

Squashes are one of the oldest known crops--10,000 years by some estimates of sites in Mexico.

A survey conducted by Heinz revealed that Brussels sprouts are the most-hated vegetable in America. A similar poll in Britain found the vilified vegetables at the top of the most-hated list there, too. And yet, Brits grow about six times more of the baby cabbages than we do in the U.S.

Date palms are like giant solar collectors. They require at least 100 sunny days of 100 degrees for best fruit production. Over the 7 month growing season, which includes Summer, they store the intense energy of the desert in their fruit.
