The Alliance Center

Conveniently located at 1536 Wynkoop Street near Colorado's State Capitol, the 16th Street Mall, and Union Station, the Alliance Center features a high-performance event space housed in a historic building that was originally constructed in 1908. By installing energy efficient and contemporary green solutions, they can offer aesthetic beauty, environmental conservancy, historical preservation and highly sustainable performance.
The Alliance Center is a flexible community event space that
can be rented to a 14-person
volunteer training up to a 180-person art exhibit and everything
in between! We asked Laura of Barefoot PRto give us more of the 411 on this exciting, innovative venue:
What sets the Alliance Center from other local venues? Many people may be surprised to learn that The Alliance Center is over 100 years old! We worked with some incredibly talented designers and architects to conceive this cutting edge green renovation and transform the building into a high-performance, high-tech and sustainably-minded space.
Can you tell us more about the Alliance Center's green, and earth-friendly practices? We encourage all of our tenants and visitors to recycle and compost while in the building, and we really try to minimize our water consumption. The Alliance Center's toilets, urinals, faucets and water fountains are either waterless or low-flow.
What types of events is the Alliance Center best suited for? The Alliance Center truly is a space for ALL. We are best suited for board meetings and staff development trainings , lectures and educational events, receptions and smaller fundraising galas. The space is incredibly flexible and easy to adjust for various event types!
You are hosting a BIG giveaway! Please tell us more! Most events are wasteful by nature, so we want to know how you would use The Alliance Center's event space for a more green and sustainable event. The names of the key summer months have Roman origins. June is named after Juno, who was the wife of Jupiter. Marc Antony named July after Julius Caesar and August was named after Caesar's nephew, known as Augustus.
Until the early 19th century there was no summer vacation. Depending on the locations of schools breaks either quarterly (for town schools) or to coincide with harvest season (rural schools).
Watermelon is the summer's favorite vegetable. Yes, vegetable and not a fruit. It is part of the cucumber, pumpkin, and squash family. Fruit or veggie, this juicy favorite is 92 percent water and the average American eats 15 pounds of watermelon a year.
France's Eiffel Tower can grow by more than 6 inches in summer due to the expansion of the iron on hot days.
The word honeymoon has associations with summer. The Pagans used that name for the first full moon in June because they drank fermented honey (mead) as part of summer wedding celebrations.
July is the month where most ice cream is sold in the US. That's why it's National Ice Cream Month. Americans eat about 5.5 gallons of ice cream per year on average.
Many people (and pups) enjoy throwing Frisbees in summer, but they were originally designed as pie plates in the 1870's. Students started throwing them in the 1940's.
The frequency of a cricket's chirps fluctuates with the temperature, so if you count a cricket's chirps for 15 seconds and add 37, you will have the approximate outdoor temperature (in Fahrenheit).
