Q & A with DWF

We asked our knowledgeable DWF sales rep, Nancy, a few questions about what to consider when planning an event
with florals.

What is the most important thing to keep mind when sticking with a
limited floral budget?

Keep the flowers "in season" and have a back up plan if specific flowers are not available.  The brides (or party host) vision and budget need to be on the same page; you can make suggestions for comparable flowers if what the bride wants is off season
or prohibitively expensive
for their budget.

What trends have you really liked, and
disliked recently?

This season there have been soft pastels which made for a very beautiful color palate.  There are many roses and miscellaneous flowers that are available in these colors and the textures and
colors, gorgeous!

Another trend this season has been coral and teal; unfortunately there are very few natural coral flowers grown commercially and NO teal flowers.  Supply and demand has made this trend challenging.

With fall and winter coming up, are there any trends to look out for with centerpieces/florals?

Textures are huge this year, the mixing of burlap and lace is in.  The trend is berries, grasses, succulents, vintage containers (mason jars, tin, and wooden containers).

Flowers that have texture which soften the rustic containers, roses, lambs ear, lisianthus, all very
causal garden look.

Labor Day Facts

What are we celebrating? The contributions and achievements of the 155 million men and women who are in the U.S. workforce.

Labor Day began in Toronto in 1872, but quickly made its way south to the U.S.  Originally it began as a significant demonstration demanding rights for workers.
Oregon was the first state to make Labor Day a holiday in 1887.

In the late 1800s the average American worked 12-hour days and seven-day weeks to make out a basic living.  Children as young as 5-6 years old worked in factories and mines.
