Revival of a Different Kind

We have been praying for God to move at New Life Church in an "undeniable way", like He did in the opening chapters of the book of Acts. Basically, we've been asking for "revival" for our city and church. When God responds however, it's often never as you expect. For instance, no one expected the Savior of the world to come as a baby in manager, born to poor parents, be a rebel to the current religious system, and be put to death on a cross. But that was the plan. Likewise, God is profoundly moving in our midst at New Life Church, and it is not at all like anyone expected. In fact, some possibly have yet to even recognize it.

God's people love the spectacular. So when we pray for a "move of God", we would appreciate it, if God put on "a show". But the Lord isn't about entertainment, He's into "transforming lives". An entertaining show attracts a big crowd and there is much excitement, but often lasting fruit for the Kingdom of God does not result. So it was a quite amazing for us to discover that while we were asking and waiting for Him to move spectacularly in our midst, God had already begun
to work mightily in ways we weren't recognizing. I expected a crowd-wide manifestation of the power of God that would shake the whole congregation, but Jesus was already profoundly dealing with individuals on a personal level - one on one -face to face - pruning them, removing sin and unnecessary distractions from their lives, drawing them back to intimacy and total dependence upon Him. It wasn't/isn't just one or two, it's the majority of those in attendance.

Looking around the congregation, there is no shaking, falling on the floor, visible fire from Heaven, or other manifestations normally associated with "revival". But the Husbandman is at work- pruning the vine - and lives are radically being changed. He's doing it in our homes, in others as they watch the live stream of the service, for some when they fellowship with each other at their offices. It's happening everywhere! It isn't always "fun". Pruning can be painful, but it's necessary for us to become what is necessary to enjoy the fruit of the Lord's next season for us! So if you wondering what is happening to you, it may very well be "Revival!".

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not
bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may
      bear more fruit. (John 15:1,2)
