The world has been very turbulent in the past few years, and this upheaval continues to increase daily. America has been increasingly struggling with various trials since 2001 (economic, terror, war, etc.). But in recent weeks it seems to have noticeably increased. There have been new terror attacks on our homeland and multiple scandals have suddenly arisen within our government. Is "something" going on? Yes. I believe something is.

Lost in the midst of all of the national turmoil is this news item out of New York from May 10th:
       "Freedom Tower now Tallest Building in Western Hemisphere"
   Freedom Tower This is the tower we built to replace the World Trade Centers that fell in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. It isn't quite finished yet, but it has reached its full height of 1776 feet,  symbolizing the year our nation declared it's independence. So for all practical purposes, we have rebuilt.

You may be familiar with the book by Jonathan Cahn, the Harbinger. It is a prophetic teaching told in the form of a narrative about the ominous situation in which America finds itself today. It describes how we have line by line fulfilled each of the prophetic elements of Isaiah 9:10,11. Do you see that? Isaiah 9/11. The prophecy was given by Isaiah to Israel about their impending destruction by the Chaldeans. Israel had suffered loss as we did on 9/11, they said, "No problem! We will rebuild!
     10 "The bricks have fallen down,
           But we will rebuild with smooth stones;
           The sycamores have been cut down,
           But we will replace them with cedars."
     11  Therefore the Lord raises against them adversaries from Rezin
           And spurs their enemies on  (Isaiah 9:10,11)

Every American government official
speaking with authority after the terror attack of September 11th, 2001 said exactly the same thing, "We will rebuild" and quoted Isaiah 9:10. They did so in addresses to the nation, to congress, and even at the National Prayer Breakfast.

I understand the patriotism and emotion of the statement, "We will rebuild!" I love my country. I have the attitude of, "Let's get out there and win this battle! as much as anyone... EXCEPT where God is concerned. I have learned to tread lightly in dealing with Him, lest I am on the wrong team and find myself opposing Him! That is where the problem lies with this statement in Isaiah. The prophet is REBUKING Israel for saying it! They were ignoring what had happened, and in their own ability were beginning to arrogantly rebuild without even consulting the Lord. But it was their SPIRITUAL CONDITION that had caused it, and now their arrogance was about to bring about their TOTAL DESTRUCTION at the hands of the Chaldeans. Rather than rebuilding, they should have been REPENTING! Instead of Boldly Proclaiming how tough they were, they should have been broken on their faces declaring their weakness, crying out for MERCY!

Have you ever suffered a loss, and with your stubbornness jumped up and started fighting again BEFORE asking the Lord, "Did my sin, attitude, actions, etc., have anything to do with me getting knocked on my face?" I have. That's how I learned not to do it anymore. When you get knocked down again, the second time hurts worse than the first!

Yes, II Cor. 4:9 says, we are knocked down, but not destroyed. But it doesn't say, "Get up quickly" does it? You might want to stay and pray while your down there on your face!
