Spiritours : Gala Night for 10th Anniversary

Article published in Tourisme Plus, September 20th, 2013 (translated by Jessica Walker)

130 people, including thirty travel agents, met last night (September 19) at the Salle Le Rizz in Montreal for a gala evening held in honor of the tenth anniversary of the travel agency,  Spiritours.

In the presence of her team and also of comedian Jean-Marie Lapointe and Sister Angle, who will both soon accompany a group of travellers, Anne Godbout, CEO and founder of the agency, took advantage of the festive atmosphere to kickoff her 2014 brochure.

Spiritours now has seven full-time employees and several suppliers and partners in their network (the representatives from the tourist offices of Spain, France and Mexico were present)...

IRELAND : FAITH OF THE IRISH PILGRIMAGE

Join us on our FAITH OF THE IRISH PILGRIMAGE from July 8th to 19th, 2014 with Father Brian Lane, Blessed Sacrament Church USA and Father Peter Sabbath, Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Canada.

In the centuries before the tragic schism that separated the Eastern Church from the Western Church, Ireland was an Island teeming with monasteries and churches. It became the home of thousands of saints, ascetics, and miracle workers of all types, and was the place from which the rest of Europe was evangelized and civilized. Scholars tell us that monks traveled from as far away as Egypt and Syria to join in the spiritual phenomena taking place on that remarkable island.

Now the island is filled with the physical remnants of that era in the form of ruins and sacred sites. It is as though the spirituality of that ancient, almost unremembered time came under some sort of enchantment and was turned to stone, waiting in silence over the centuries for a time of reawakening, when the life is renewed and the ancient places are restored, and the island is known once more as, Holy Ireland, the home of saints and scholars.

PILGRIMAGE TO QUEBEC

CELEBRATE THE 350TH OF NOTRE-DAME DE QUEBEC (JUBILEE YEAR 2014)

Celebrate the 350th Anniversary of the first Catholic Parish in North America (Canada and USA). Gain Plenary Indulgence by walking through the only Holy Door in the Americas.

Opening a Holy Door has long been part of jubilee ceremonies. None was more moving than Christmas Eve 1999, when an ailing Pope John Paul II, bent in his infirmity, knelt on the threshold of St. Peter's Basilica Holy Door at the Vatican. Holy doors, which are sealed after the jubilee, are opened only once every 25 years.

Notre-Dame becomes the seventh Holy Door in the Catholic world - four are in Rome, one in Ars-sur-Formans, France, the other in Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

"With the Holy Door, we invite people to come to Quebec with their own faith, with what they live, as a heritage from the missionaries of the 17th century," says Monsignor Denis Belanger, the priest at Notre Dame.

"This door is open to all persons of good will. For Catholics it is a pilgrimage, a sign, a passage, a kind of spiritual preparation."
