2014 Bishop Election Want to know more about the bishop election process? Request a congregational visit from members of the Bishop Election Committee (BEC)! Members of the BEC will happily come and visit with your congregation during an adult forum, council meeting, or gathering in order to share information about the election process and how the ministry of the synod relies upon you and the ministries of your congregation.
Contact BEC via email SPAS.BEC.2014@gmail.com and request a visit.

Bega Kwa Bega Welcoming Peter Harrits Peter Harrits will begin his duties as the director of Bega Kwa Bega on Wednesday, Jan. 15, and will leave for Iringa in early February. In the short time he is with us in the synod office, we are seeking to arrange for him to learn as much as possible about the many facets of this partnership. If you are a partner congregation and would like Peter to preach and/or lead an adult forum on Sunday, February 2, or to have him visit with your global mission group or others, please be in touch with Beth Helgen as soon as possible. His calendar is filling up, and he is eager to meet as many of you as possible prior to his departure. |

From Peter Rogness:
A gift to honor the ministry of Mark Hanson
An opportunity to honor Mark Hanson's 12 years of service as presiding bishop with a gift to the ELCA Fund for Leaders has been initiated with the participation from members of the church council and the Conference of Bishops. Many synods are inviting others who would like to express appreciation to contribute to a gift to the ELCA Fund for Leaders as well.
If you would like to participate, please send a check, with Mark Hanson Gift in the memo, to the Saint Paul Area Synod, and we will forward it as a gift from people in this synod.

New ELCA website launched The churchwide website of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, www.ELCA.org, was launched last week. In the meantime, check links on your website and other communications for any broken links. |

Since the time of the official holiday of Thanksgiving is at hand, we need to be thinking about more than turkey, pumpkin pie, and football...
