July 20, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Christ on Capitol Hill, St. Paul. In late April, the Rev. Mark Peters announced that he was leaving his position as the Director of Lutheran Coalition for Public Policy in Minnesota (LCPPM), effective June 7, 2013. Please join LCPPM to thank the Rev. Mark Peters for his 18 years of contributions to LCPPM, to the people of Minnesota, and to the ELCA.

Sacred spaces in unconventional places

If you google the definition of "sacred," you'll soon be buried in hundreds of results. Despite the massive influx of data this simple search produces, only one definition seems to articulate the meaning: to be sacred is to be connected with God. One fundamental way to find this connection, this sacredness, emerges when we gather, sing, and worship together in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Although the majority of congregations in the Saint Paul Area Synod gather for weekly worship in a church building equipped with pews, an altar, and a pulpit, some are finding this connection to God and to one another by offering worship in less traditional spaces. Continue reading...

Summer synod office hours
Effective now through Aug. 9, the synod office will be closing at 12:00 noon on Fridays. Office hours Monday through Thursday will remain same, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
