A Special Offering 
A special offering will be taken during worship to support the leadership development work in the Augustinian Lutheran Church of Guatemala or ILAG.

Lunch with Bishop Horacio and Esther Castillo 

Those interested in learning more about the ministry happening in and through ILAG are invited to join Bishop Horacio and Esther Castillo for a lunch and conversation following the ministerium at 12:00 noon. Lunch is free but please register here so that preparations can be made accordingly.

SPIN Fall Series: Remembering and Honoring Dakota Stories
At the Saint Paul Area Synod Assembly in May 2012, voting members adopted a resolution regarding reconciliation with Native Americans. The resolution called upon congregations to use resources developed by the Saint Paul Interfaith Network (SPIN).

This fall, SPIN presents a series focusing on reconciliation with Native Americans. Sessions will be held from 7:00-9:15 p.m. at the American Indian Magnet School, 1075 E. 3rd St., Saint Paul, MN 55106.
  • Oct. 22 Dakota Voices I - JB Weston, tribal historian and Art Owen, historian and spiritual leader 
  • Oct. 29 Dakota Voices II - Sydney Beane, educator/activist, Gabrielle Strong, descendant of Dakota 38 
  • Nov. 5 Future Voices - American Indian students tell stories and hopes

In addition, congregations can learn more about the 150th Anniversary of the hanging of the 38 Dakota in Mankato in the six-part series in the Star Tribune, "In the Footsteps of Little Crow."

  • Fanning  the Flames of Mission, Nov. 3, 8:30 a.m.- 12:00 noon. Roseville Lutheran, Roseville. While there is no cost to attend this event, RSVP's are required to help us plan materials and accommodations. Register by Thursday, October 25. Register Now.  
Hearing the Cries: Faith and Criminal Justice Forum

Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m. 

Immanuel, St. Paul. The Saint Paul Area Synod anti-racism task force is sponsoring a forum on the draft social statement from the ELCA on the criminal justice system in the U.S. The statement was created to invite members of the church to engage in moral deliberation on this major social issue.
