"What's up fumch family? Well I think the Home saved my life at the time. I hated so many rules and not being able to party with my friends from school but now looking back it was the best thing that ever happened to me. They helped us and gave us what we were clearly missing at home."

Day On Campus Celebration
|
Over 1,400 people enjoyed our Day On Campus celebration on March 16. Our annual Day On Campus is our way of saying thank you to the local United Methodist Churches and the many friends of the Children's Home who support us with such generosity. Each year we specifically invite two or three districts, but you are free to come any year. The Day On Campus celebration is always the third Saturday of March each year. It is a festive day that includes tours of the campus, a program featuring the residents, a picnic lunch under a big top tent, and the fellowship of other United Methodists from around the Florida Conference. If you have never attended a Day On Campus, please make plans to bring a group from your church. It is a great way to introduce people to the Children's Home. The following is the schedule of invited districts for the next few years.
March 15, 2014 North West - North Central - North East March 21, 2015 Atlantic Central - South East March 19, 2016 East Central - South West March 18, 2017 Gulf Central - South Central

The Kiwanis Club of Deltona/Southwest Volusia gave our residents a fun Easter Egg Hunt. Over 2,200 eggs were hidden for our boys and girls to find. Also enjoyed were games, crafts and face painting. Our residents celebrated Easter Sunday in our chapel and gathered for a campus wide brunch following the service. Thank you for making this Christ centered ministry possible.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
Each year we celebrate and thank our wonderful volunteers that make this ministry a success. We could not accomplish all we do as a Children's Home without the literally hundreds of volunteers that come each year. Some volunteers come on a regular basis, some are special event volunteers and others come as a part of a mission work team. All of them make a real and meaningful impact on the Children's Home.

In 2012 Trinity United Methodist Church of Gainesville, Florida was instrumental in forming a partnership with the Florida United Methodist Children's Home to help launch the Madison Youth Ranch, a second campus of the Children's Home. The church agreed to lead the funding and building of the director's home at the ranch and supporting other projects as well. They have already sent work crews to begin this effort. The pastors, Dr. Dan Johnson and Rev. David Allen, have invited the Children's Home to be a part of many events, services and programs at the church to share about the ministry of the Children's Home. In 2012, Trinity United Methodist Church increased their giving to the Children's Home over fivefold from the previous year and gave $74,971.97 to the Children's Home. Thank you Trinity United Methodist for making the Children's Home a priority in your church and for your enthusiastic support.

Dr. Charles Lever presents the award to Reverend Alexis Talbott |
Reverend Alexis Talbott, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Homestead, Florida is a vocal and enthusiastic supporter of the Children's Home and its ministry. Alexis is also active in promoting the Children's Home in the South East District and her local community. A group from the church attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Madison Youth Ranch in September of 2012 and is organizing work teams for the Madison Youth Ranch once construction begins. Her church helped make our annual Santa's Workshop possible. Helen's Bears, a local group in the church that makes teddy bears, provided a large donation and will provide bears each quarter in 2013. The First United Methodist School which operates from the premises at the church is planning a school wide event to benefit the Madison Youth Ranch. First United Methodist of Homestead, Florida is generous with their financial support. In 2012 the church gave $48.06 per member, far exceeding the $12.00 per member goal. In 2013 Alexis will continue her active support of this ministry by seeking pledges and resources for the Children's Home by running a half marathon. Alexis and her church are a wonderful example that distance from the campus of the Children's Home is not a deterrent to providing love and support to this ministry and feeling connected to the residents and staff.
