"I would like to thank each and every one of you that have helped my son to make the right choices, to walk the lighted path of Christ and to leave the darkness behind.  Your program was wonderful and there are staff that I miss because they became my friends.  We are a family again and life is much better now that he is home.  Thanks again.

P.S. There is Hope!"

Bake Sale
Dundee United Methodist Church held a "Bake Auction" to benefit the Children's Home.  Members of the church brought in homemade pies, cakes, cookies and more.  After the fun and festive auction a total of $1,400 was raised for the Children's Home.  Thank you members of the church, Rev. Debbie Mak and LCR, Kathy Wagner.

New President/CEO Search Almost Complete
The Search Committee of our Board of Trustees, led by Dr. Bob Bushong, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Winter Park, Florida, has been engaged in their search process for several months. The executive search consultant assisting them has had contact with about 200 people across the United States. A number of people have been considered and interviewed. The work of the Search Committee has now entered a final stage and we hope to share with you soon the name of a new President/CEO once the decision has been made.

Goal of Giving Remains at $12.00 per member
The goal of giving that is set each year at the Florida Annual Conference will remain at $12.00 per member for 2013.  We hope all United Methodists in Florida think this is an attainable goal for their church.  We are a part of your family as United Methodists.  We are an extension of your local church to help serve children and families with unique and challenging needs.

Please be reminded that the Children's Home keeps track of the goal of giving for each local church.  While you are welcome to send your Fifth Sunday Offering through the conference office in Lakeland, we would prefer that funds be sent directly to the Children's Home.  This allows your donations to go directly to work ministering to the children and families in our care.

LCR Training Events
Thank you to all the Local Church Representatives who attended a district training event.  We hope these were useful for you.  We would love to have any feedback you wish to give.  Thank you for all the hard work and effort you give to support the Children's Home.
Education Success
The first semester of the school year brought more strong achievements in the classroom.  We celebrate this success with an Award's Night in the chapel.  Our education program, located in the Worrell Memorial Education Center, provides numerous resources including a library, computers, resource materials, tutoring rooms and more to help enhance what each boy and girl receives in school every day.  The following is a look at some of the awards for the second grading period:

12 made the Honor Roll
24 residents increased their G.P.A.
37 received all Good Conduct Marks on their report card

2012 Church Giving
Thank you so much for all you do as Local Church Representatives.  We could not operate this life changing ministry without each and every one of you.  We deeply appreciate all the local churches that worked hard to meet their goal of giving of $12.00 per member for 2012.  A list of all the churches that met their goal of giving will be published in the next edition of The Herald and listed in a registration packet insert at the Florida Annual Conference.  Listed below are the top 20 churches that went above and beyond to support the Children's Home.  One list contains regular giving and the other list is the churches with the largest per member giving in the Florida Annual Conference.  We created the list to recognize 40 different churches since some churches would have been on both list.  More details about the church giving statistics will be coming later.
