Alumnus quote... |
"I would like to thank the staff of the Children's Home for helping me realize that I could succeed at the goals I set for myself. I would especially like to thank my houseparents for having faith in me no matter what. My plan after I graduate from high school is to attend college and major in elementary education." |

Items of Interest
Together, our residents, staff, and preschool families donated a total of 80 shoe boxes full of blessings for Operation Christmas Child. Our residents enjoy the opportunity to give to others in need.
A big thank you goes out to those that made stockings for our residents. Pictured are ladies from Wesley Memorial UMC in Ft. Myers. Stocking were also made by the sewing ministry of First UMC of Orlando and Carol Kramer of First UMC of Clermont.
If your church is collecting Christmas gifts for our residents and/or foster care children, please make every effort to get them to us as soon as possible. It takes staff and volunteers a great deal of time to sort and organize the gifts before Christmas Day.
We are always in need of gift cards to stores such as Target, Walmart, Ross, TJ Maxx, Kohl's, or Marshalls. Clothes, shoes and other items are in steady demand with so many residents in care.
A great debt of gratitude is extended to the individuals and groups that provided a holiday meal for our Homes for Thanksgiving and Christmas. All the meals have been furnished now. If you would still like to help in some way, please contact Stephen Hartsfield for other needs at this time. stephen.hartsfield@fumch.org |

December 30, 2012

Please remember to receive a Christmas/Fifth Sunday Offering on December 30, 2012. Your Christmas and Fifth Sunday support is essential for us to finish the year on a strong foundation. Your prayerful support helps to ensure that the daily needs of the children and families in our care are fulfilled. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING...
Year End Giving
We know that many of you are working hard to help your church reach its goal of giving for 2012. Please remember that gifts need to be postmarked by December 31, 2012 in order to be counted towards the 2012 goal of giving for your church. Our financial books will remain open until the Florida Annual Conference closes their books. Therefore, if you send any giving through the conference office, instead of directly to the Children's Home, it will be counted toward your goal. We will just have to wait a couple of weeks to receive the funds.
Thank You Retiring LCRs
Welcome New LCRs
For some of you, December 31, 2012 will mark the end of your tenure as a Local Church Representative (LCR). We deeply thank you for all your hard work and effort on behalf of the Children's Home. For others you will begin your journey with the Children's Home on January 1, 2013 as a new LCRs. We welcome you and hope you find fulfillment and meaning lifting up the Home in your local church. LCRs are a vital component to our ministry and development efforts. With some 700 churches in the Florida Annual Conference, it would be near impossible for us to have a meaningful connection in all those local churches without the LCRs serving as goodwill ambassadors. Thank you for all you do! Please take note of the District Training Events below.
Christmas Catalog
The 2012 Christmas Catalog has been mailed. If you would like additional copies of the catalog, please contact our Development Office at (386) 668-5088. The Christmas Catalog has proven to be a meaningful and successful way to give to loved ones and at the same time help to make Christmas brighter and more joyous for our boys and girls. |
SANTA'S WORKSHOP

Each year we hold a Santa's Workshop for our residents. Our boys and girls are given the opportunity to go to various tables and create handmade items to give to family members and important people in their lives at Christmas. This is a very fun day for residents and volunteers alike. We also hold a separate event for our foster families and children.

If you would like information about being a part of Santa's Workshop next year, please contact Lynn Bellomy at lynn.bellomy@fumch.org A special thank you goes to the following that helped to make this year possible:
