$5 million gift from Greehey Family Foundation pushes Campaign for the Future of Health over $500 million goal
UT Health Science Ctr. At the 2013 President's Gala on Saturday, Sept. 7, William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP, president of the UT Health Science Center San Antonio, announced a $5 million gift from the Greehey Family Foundation to the university. This new donation pushes the Health Science Center's Campaign for the Future of Health over its goal of $500 million.  Click on link above to read more.
  
Dr. Robert Langer will receive the 2013 Julio Palmaz Award at BioMed SA's awards dinner, Wednesday, Sept. 18th.      
BioMedSA Dr. Robert Langer of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will receive the 2013 Julio Palmaz Award at BioMed SA's annual awards dinner Sept. 18.

 

Langer, 65, an institute professor at MIT and a prolific medical inventor with more than 800 issued and pending patents to his credit, is described by BioMed SA as the most cited engineer in history.

 

BioMed SA, a nonprofit focused on San Antonio's health care and bioscience industries, is honoring Langer for his contributions, which include the development of a controlled drug delivery system.

Mayor Julian Castro praises Children's Hospital of San Antonio construction for being on target with SA 2020 vision

Wearing a hard hat and safety goggles, San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro helped put up drywall marking the official kickoff of the construction phase for Children's Hospital of San Antonio.
  

"This project is exciting because we're building a future of world-class care for the children of San Antonio and beyond," said Mayor Castro. For the fifth year in a row, the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Physicians Ambulatory Surgery Center (CSR-PASC) - New Braunfels has won the national 2012/2013 APEX Quality Award for excellence in patient satisfaction.
