Tax Preparer Changes
IRS AFSP 15 hour and 18 hour with AFTR
Still wondering which one to take? If you are a tax preparer who successfully passed the Registered Tax Return Preparer test (while it was being offered in 2012) you are only required to take 15 hours in order to receive the IRS Annual Filing Season Program - Record of Completion. Whereas those that did not pass this test will have to take 18 hours. Other qualifications apply, see here for more details.

CTEC 20 Hour Continuing Tax Education
For all tax preparers in California, Oregon, and Maryland that take the state specific continuing education, these courses will also allow you to participate in the Annual Filing Season Program. The benefits of the program are obtaining your record of completion with the IRS and an upper hand in the market. See here for more details.
