TEDMED 2013 Coming Soon!

Nurture is proud to once again partner with TEDMED as they bring together a multi-disciplinary community of innovators and leaders who share a common goal - to create a better future in health and medicine.

We are particularly eager to hear John Maeda, president of the Rhode Island School of Design, explore the question, "How can design principles lead to more discovery and better treatment?"

Persistence and Communication Pay Off in NV

Sometimes out-of-the-way hospitals that require a plane ride and a three hour car trip are worth the extra effort. When Ester Bailey heard about the opportunity to present Opus at Humboldt General Hospital in tiny Winnemucca, Nevada, the task at first seemed daunting. However, the enthusiasm of the designer, Natalie Miller of CTA in Boise, Idaho, convinced her - this project would be worth the trip. And it was.

Nurture had won the first phase of the project - Nurture seating for the waiting areas at the hospital - and they had used custom millwork throughout. The install turned out so well, the designer called and invited Ester to come see it. She decided to make the trip, at the very least it would be worthwhile to share in Natalie's excitement and support for Nurture seating products. The designer and client were appreciative of Ester's effort in making the trip, so much so that they asked her to present "modular vs. millwork" to the CEO and Head of Nursing while she was there. They responded well to the presentation - after leaving, the designer called Ester and said, "Great job, you won the second phase of the project!" - Folio, Opus and Sync in the patient rooms, an almost $250K project. Even better, thanks to the extra effort put in to collaborate with the design firm, they've called with potential business for a client in Montana.

Beyond the takeaway of going above and beyond to cultivate key relationships, a big takeaway Ester had from this project is the importance of maintaining open lines of communication in all phases of an installation. Staying on the same page with all members of the team, from the people involved at the hospital, the architect and dealer, and the internal team in Grand Rapids is crucial to the success of the project.

Village Tip: Make Search Easier

Searching for items on Village is a great way to 1) quickly find what you're looking for, or 2) discover documents, places, or people that you didn't even know were out there.

A couple of tips to make search work for you:

* Input the search term and DO NOT press enter. By not pressing enter, you allow the system to show the 5 most relevant items under "content", "people", and "places". For example, when searching for GPO information, simply type in "Nurture GPO" and you'll see the various GPO agreements show up under the Content header, while the group "Nurture Group Purchasing" will appear under the Places header.

* If what you're looking for doesn't appear, try refining your search term or press enter. Note that after pressing enter, there are several ways to filter/refine the results - don't forget to browse through the different tabs to get to different information.
