GPO Updates

Nurture has negotiated and secured a new three-year agreement with Novation, a GPO for healthcare industry customers. The Novation agreement also supports VHA and Provista Healthcare members purchasing needs. The current agreement will remain in effect through April 31, 2013, and the new agreement will begin May 1, 2013. For the first 12 months of the agreement, pricing will move to price list 176.

Good Read on Healthcare Design

From a blog on the Healthcare Design Magazine website comes this great piece on how a collaborative design process can lead to safer, more efficient designs.

It features Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend, in Springfield, OR, and illustrates how comments from a community volunteer led to larger, safer bathrooms in their newly renovated patient rooms.

TEDMED 2013 Coming Soon!

TEDMED 2013 is taking place at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, April 16 - 19, and Nurture is helping to make it available for you!

Now is your chance to participate in TEDMEDLive in your area. Nurture is able to offer this content at no charge due to our partnership with TEDMED. This can be a great value-added experience for your healthcare customers, architects, designers and other partners. Here are a few key benefits:
* Be a part of an inspiring, fun and thought-provoking experience
* Position you and your team as thought leaders for healthcare
* Invite and interact with prospective customers and influencers
* Generate leads and identify new business opportunities

Most simulcasts are half-day events that include showing TEDMED presentations, creating conversations with your attendees and providing some food and beverage. But you can simulcast as much - or as little - of TEDMED as you choose, from a single 90 minute session to the full three days. And you can complement the TEDMED sessions with your own speakers on topics of particular interest to your guests.

If you are unsure about showing the simulcast in real-time,  the TEDMED experience is also available on-demand. These videos will be posted on the TEDMED website immediately after the session is completed and will be available through Sunday, April 21. This is a good option for those of you on the West Coast.

Nurture will be managing three simulcasts; in Grand Rapids, Chicago and Palo Alto. If you live in one of these markets, please be a part of our simulcast experience.

If you are interested in hosting a TEDMED simulcast, please contact Laura Northouse by Thursday, March 14 and provide a primary contact person for your location. Nurture will provide you with a complete hosting and facilitation guide. You would be responsible for coordinating the event including inviting guests, reserving a location and providing any hospitality.

Stay tuned for more TEDMED information!

The Keys to Handling Many Voices

Corralling a group of 25 decision-makers from a single hospital into a dealer showroom and satisfying all of their disparate needs and requests isn't the easiest job in the world, but Ester Bailey recently performed just such a task. A group from Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Washington made the trip to Barclay Dean, now known as Newco, to check out the X-tenz Sleeper, and after a demonstration, made the decision to purchase 13 sleepers for their recently renovated pediatrics unit. Ester presented the X-tenz Sleeper and led a four-hour discussion that was successful in meeting all of the concerns and needs of the group from Overlake. Independent designer Terri Bertucci was instrumental in setting up the visit.

Ester learned from dealing with a group that large that everyone at first wants to voice their own opinion and tweak and mold the product in their own particular way. The key is handling these requests to modify the product, and being sensitive to input coming at you from all sides. Be prepared to potentially adjust the standard product - by being open to all possibilities and curious as to what was prompting their desire to modify the product, Ester was able to help the team from Overlake narrow in on what exactly they wanted and in the end, the special requirements were relatively modest.
