Understanding the IT Mindset Pays Off:
150 more Pockets for Wisconsin Children's!

Earlier this year, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin placed an order for 144 Pockets to accommodate the increasing use of laptops by doctors and clinical staff. The initial order was followed very shortly by orders for an additional 74 Pockets, bringing the total number currently in use to 218. The primary driver for this opportunity was Children's implementation of Electronic Medical Records Systems and the need for IT to deploy large numbers of laptops to support the EMR process.  Pocket was selected for its simplicity (both in deployment and use) and ease of movement.

Fast forward to September.  After experiencing Pocket in use for several months, CHW recently placed another order - for 150 more!

This is a perfect example of how understanding the IT mindset has paid off.  Nurture's Ryan Grote and Dave Schlapman, VP of Sales at Forrer Business Interiors, noted that their success in this project was a direct outcome of successfully engaging with IT. They worked with IT management and positioned Pocket as the right product to support the deployment of laptops throughout the hospital and outpatient clinics. This audience is particularly technical so they were prepared to answer questions centered around performance, material composition, equipment options and of course - pricing.  Being able to answer their questions, combined with a very successful month-long demo of various Pocket configurations, provided the IT team at CHW with a positive experience. For Nurture and Forrer Business Interiors, the opportunity to partner with CHW as their standard for IT support is a great success.

Wisconsin Children's total number of Pockets to date is now 368 and counting.

Here's an interesting read on the role of mobile devices in the future of healthcare.

Empath Orders Keep On Coming

Tulsa, OK - Located on the Saint Francis/Warren Clinic campus, the Ambulatory Surgery Center found themselves in need of a small number of recliners to replace their existing bunch, which in their words are more akin to torture devices than recliners. The nurse manager at the ASC got Paul Glavas' (of Scott Rice Oklahoma) name from other Scott Rice contacts within the greater Saint Francis Health system. They got in touch, coincidentally, during a visit Libby Larson, Nurture Area Healthcare Manager, was making to Tulsa. Paul and Libby met with the nurse manager and a few of her staff, and without even showing them the recliner or a brochure, only by presenting the insights, was able to secure an order of 7 Empath recliners. This speaks to the reputation of Paul and Scott Rice within the Saint Francis Health system, but also to the impact you are able to make presenting the insights behind Empath. To get a historically Nemschoff account to switch to Nurture and Empath without even showing the physical product is pretty impressive.

Paul and Libby talked with the clinicians about Nurture's observations of a bed-to-chair transfer and the opportunity to make it a safer process. Being able to easily lock the recliner and then fold down either side for transfers was a big selling point for this group from Saint Francis. This will help them and their delicate patients get from bed to recliner and back in a safe, comfortable way. They also like the integrated-design approach of Empath, as their current recliners are extremely clinical in appearance.
