National Night Out, Aug. 4

National Night Out Against Crime is an annual event celebrated across the United States.

Join the Kenmore Police Department at City Hall tonight for this great community engagement event. There will be free food, home and personal safety information, and activities. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

All ages are welcome to attend and learn more about Kenmore's strong community. See more info here, National Night Out.

Kenmore Town Green

No downtown is complete without a public place -- a place that belongs to everyone, where people can come together to play, to relax, and to have fun. That's why Kenmore is building its own town green! Located at the northwest corner of the intersection of 68th Avenue NE and NE 181st Street, the town green will be 20,000 square feet in size. It is slated to begin construction in fall 2015 and open for use mid-2016. Visit Town Green for more info.

Kenmore Downtown Project
Exciting things are happening in downtown Kenmore. The first phase of the The Spencer 68 Apartments + Lofts development, which will include 138 residential units when finished, is scheduled to be completed by the end of the summer.

Additionally, new fencing has very recently gone up at the Kenmore Village property. This fencing was put up by MainStreet Property Group (the people behind The Spencer 68 Apartments + Lofts). MainStreet is preparing the site for demolition of the existing buildings and the coming construction of new commercial development known as "Spencer Square."

To help keep everyone informed and in the loop, the City recently launched a new Downtown Kenmore website. This site will provide updates and information on the project as it comes along. For more details on downtown Kenmore and the town green, visit

New Skatecourt in Kenmore
Construction began June 8 on the new Jack V. Crawford Skatecourt, replacing the former skate board park. The new space is a cool cast-in-place concrete design and is being built at the north end of City Hall. The park is scheduled to be completed by mid-September of this year. Currently, crews are working to complete the 'ditch' section, upper plateau, both 'hubba' ledges, and outer wall of spine & bowl. Time lapse videos showing weekly progress are posted on the City's YouTube page.

Food Trucks in Kenmore
Don't think that food trucks are going away now that the fencing has gone up at Kenmore Village. We're still bringing these delicious food vendors to our downtown area! The schedule is still the same -- Mondays at lunch (11:00 AM to 2:00 PM) and select Wednesdays (about every other) for dinner (usually 4:30 to 7:30 PM). Stay updated on the schedule at

Maximus / Minimus will be back in the evening to close out the food truck experience on Wednesday, August 26, from 5:30 to 8:00, or later if we keep them going!

New Mural in Kenmore
We need your feedback to tell Kenmore's story!
Together, the City of Kenmore and St. Vincent de Paul are exploring how to get a big, beautiful community mural (a love note!) up on St. Vinnie's thrift store wall. We want this mural to tell Kenmore's story, so we need your feedback on what that story will be.

Please click on the link below to give us your feedback! The survey is VERY short.

SR 522 Needs Better Transit Now
SR 522 is already congested and getting worse quickly. Currently 40 to 50 thousand vehicles use the corridor daily. Park & Ride lots are full early every morning. SR 522 needs better transit NOW!
Sound Transit is preparing a ballot initiative called ST3 (Sound Transit 3) to fund new transit projects. Although the public comment period has ended, we can continue to make our voice loud and clear: Don't forget SR 522 and the North Lake Washington Corridor!

Have you signed the petition yet? Please do so if you haven't already. This is a simple way for you to show your support for better transit options along the SR 522 corridor.
