UW Bothell Seeking Oral History from Bothell Residents
UW Bothell professor, Jill Freidberg, is teaching an Oral History class this winter quarter. In the class, 24 students will build relationships with Bothell residents from different walks of life and conduct an oral history interview, exploring the question: How has Bothell changed since the University of Washington Bothell opened its doors? Interviews will be recorded on video and audio and made available to the public through the University of Washington Bothell Libraries Digital Collections website, where they will be available to future scholars, researchers, historians, and residents of Bothell. The time commitment will be minimal. Participants will meet once or twice with students in the month of January, and then will make themselves available for an interview (1 - 2 hours) at a date to be determined in mid-to-late February. Bothell residents interested in participating in this project are encouraged to contact Professor Freidberg at JFreidberg@uwb.edu or 206.851.6785. |

Bothell Historical Museum Needs Your Help to "Spread the News"!
The Bothell Historical Museum is looking for contributions for their 'Spread the News!' project to convert the Bothell Sentinel newspaper, published from 1908 to 1935, from microfiche to digital format. The digital format will be available on a free public website as a searchable resource about Bothell history. The microfiche copies will become unreadable in the future, as the readers and spare parts are not being made anymore.
The total cost of this project is estimated at $10,500, they have raised $7,000 so far! Funds raised in excess of actual project costs will be used for digitizing the Bothell/Northshore Citizen papers (1933 to 2001).
Contributions will be acknowledged on the newspaper website, with business links if requested. The Bothell Historical Museum is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation, and all donations are tax deductible. Contributions are needed by December 31, 2013. Please send to: Bothell Historical Museum Society PO Box 313 Bothell, WA 98041 or email us at bothellmuseum@gmail.com. |
