City Seeking Volunteers to Help Beautify Kenmore Parks this Saturday

Come join your neighbors, businesses, and local organizations at the City of Kenmore's next city-wide volunteer opportunity and help beautify our local Kenmore parks as part of National Day of Service on Saturday, September 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are needed to pick up litter, rake debris, and pull weeds at Rhododendron Park (6910 NE 170th St) and Log Boom Park (61st Ave NE & NE 175th St).

The event will happen rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Anyone over 14 years and older are invited to volunteer. Families and groups, who wish to volunteer with younger participants, please contact the City for guidelines. The City encourages volunteers to bring gloves and basic gardening tools. Water and snacks will be provided.

City Council Meeting Schedule
The Kenmore City Council welcomes your participation in the process of local government. Council meetings are held the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Mondays of the month at 7:00 PM at the Kenmore City Hall, Council Chambers, 18120 68th Ave. NE, Kenmore. These meetings are open to the public, and public comments are accepted at the beginning of the meeting.

Coffee with Council
The Kenmore City Council invites citizens to Coffee with Council on Saturday, September 21 at 8:00 AM at Espresso Works, 6734 NE 181st Street. Citizens are encouraged to attend these informal sessions to ask questions, discuss issues and offer suggestions on any topic of interest. Coffee with Council is typically held the 1st Monday at 7:30 AM and 3rd Saturday at 8 AM of each month at Espresso Works.

The recycling event provides an opportunity for Kenmore residents to properly dispose of batteries, cardboard, television sets and other items. A flyer is mailed to residents prior to the event and available on the City's website,

Arts of Kenmore (AOK) Gallery at Kenmore City Hall Photography Exhibit

The exhibit featuring a collection of photographs by local artists will run September 27 through November 15. The public is invited to the Opening Reception September 27, 6:30 - 8:00 PM at Kenmore City Hall. Two of our featured photographers will give brief presentations about their photographic process. Light refreshments will be served.


This Photographic Group Exhibit of six local photographers will showcase a wide range of subject matter and photographic style. Although both established and emerging photographic artists are represented, the photographs all demonstrate a high level of craftsmanship. Read more...

Volunteer Teams Needed to Help Fill Empty Food Shelves

Teams are needed to help staff local grocery stores, including the Kenmore Safeway, to collect nonperishable food donations for the 21st Annual Mayor's Day of Concern for the Hungry Food Drive on Saturday, September 28. Your group can turn just a few hours of time into tons of food for hungry local families. If you are interested, please contact the Emergency Feeding Program at 206-329-0300 or .



Kenmore City Council Candidates' Forum

Candidates will be given an opportunity to provide a brief opening and/or closing statement, as well as equal time to respond to specific questions.

Kenmore Awarded $20,000 Let's Play Grant from Dr Pepper Snapple Group and National Non-profit KaBOOM! 
Press Release - City of Kenmore 
After Being Named Playful City USA Community Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) and national non-profit KaBOOM! have awarded the City of Kenmore a $20,000 Let's Play City Construction Grant. Kenmore will use the grant to build a new playground with community involvement.

The grant is part of Let's Play, a community partnership led by Dr Pepper Snapple Group to get kids and families active nationwide. In 2011, as part of Let's Play, Dr Pepper Snapple Group made a $15 million, three-year commitment to KaBOOM!, the national non-profit saving play by ensuring there is a great place to play within walking distance of every child. Together through Let's Play, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and KaBOOM! will build or fix up 2,000 playgrounds by the end of 2013, benefiting an estimated five million children across North America. Kenmore applied for 2012 Playful City USA recognition and also submitted a Let's Play grant application to Dr Pepper Snapple Group and KaBOOM!. Read more...
