February is Heart Month   

 

Feb Heart Month
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, with diabetes not far behind. In response to the American Heart Association's designation of February as American Heart Month, the City of Bothell will once again be celebrating "Bothell Heart Month".

This campaign focuses on heart health awareness by placing firefighters in high-traffic areas throughout the community to offer free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings.

Foundation Invests $29,000 in Career and College Readiness

Electric car conversion, a new composites course, high school courses for college credit and literacy enhancements for English and Spanish speakers are just a few of the impacts to be made by a $29,200 grant from the Northshore Schools Foundation to Northshore School District Tuesday, Jan. 22. These funds support district career and college readiness efforts and are aimed at increasing student success rate as they enter into college and career.   

 

The funds were raised during the fall, "All in for Kids" campaign where over 2,000 district families contributed to the cause. Read more...

The YMCA of Greater Seattle has received a $10,000 grant from jcp cares, jcpenney's new charitable giving program, to provide school-aged children with financial assistance to attend after school programs at the Y. This gift provides children in Bothell, Kenmore, Woodinville, the Central District, Rainier Beach, South Park and West Seattle who otherwise could not afford to participate, with access to life-enriching after school programs that cultivate the values, relationships and skills kids need to thrive.

Preliminary revenue for the fourth quarter was $2.0 million. Also, for the first time in the history of the company, management expects to report positive cash flow from operations in the fourth quarter of 2012.
