Taneice Chavers Crowdfunds Through
KivaZip To Open Salon For Women With Hair loss
|
Rising Tide Entrepreneur Taneice Chavers has exactly 28 days left to secure the funding for her salon, Heaven Your Way.
The salon, which will open this spring, was inspired by Taneice's inability to find a salon that could accommodate her needs after her own traumatic hair loss. Heaven Your Way will provide hair and skin care for women who experience hair loss due to cancer, lupus and other life-threatening diseases. The $5,000 loan will help her obtain inventory--including prosthetic devices--to stock her salon.
Anyone with a credit card and access to a computer can lend as little as $5 to help bring Taneice's vision to life. Visit her KivaZip profile and become a lender today!

RTC Collects Donations For Families Displaced By Jersey City Fire
|
With YOUR help--our entrepreneurs and community supporters--we donated clothes, food and kitchen appliances to assist the 35 families who lost everything in the five-alarm fire on Grant Ave in Jersey City. All items were donated to the United Way of Hudson County who will take care of the distribution to the families. You can still make a financial donation by visiting www.liveunitedhudson.org/ and clicking on 'Jersey City Fire Emergency Donations.'

Our First-Ever Web Series: How to Get Your Products Retail-Ready
|
Monday, March 24, was a historic day at Rising Tide Capital. It marked RTC's first-ever webinar, the first time we've used technology to deliver programming for our entrepreneurs. This webinar was the first installment of 3-part web series--"How to Get your Products Retail-Ready"-- for entrepreneurs interested in learning how to prepare their goods for retail. RTC's Help Desk specialist Liz Long, co-founder of Bag The Habit, is the facilitator.
On July 31 and August 28, RTC will host parts two and three of the web series. Liz will cover how to source suppliers, manufacture, and ship products.

In order to meet the needs of the ever-growing Community Business Academy, RTC is currently training five new assistant instructors including two CBA graduates.
After successfully starting and growing their businesses, CBA graduates Angela McKnight and LaShonda Tyree return to the CBA, but this time as assistant trainers, offering their talent and experience to aspiring entrepreneurs.
"I am excited to share how I applied what I learned in the CBA to grow my business with future students. I hope to impact the lives of others by sharing my business knowledge to help them start, run and maintain a business," said Angela McKnight (pictured left).

A Few Thoughts on International Women's Day
Proud mom of two small girls, and Director of Communications Esther Fraser shared her thoughts on women, entrepreneurship, and RTC's mission for International Women's Day.
"These women are building more than the next fancy gadget. They are building a legacy, for themselves, their families and their communities. I am grateful to have the opportunity to do this work that I love. I don't believe for a second that these women wouldn't have been just as amazing if they hadn't found us. I do believe, however, that our tools and resources are an important part of their journeys. And being able to be a part of this, even peripherally, just fills me with joy and with hope"
