 Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs

Women
Since 2006, 446 women entrepreneurs have graduated from Rising Tide Capital's Community Business Academy.

Dear Friends,

As Women's History Month comes to a close, help us celebrate the amazing women from the Rising Tide Capital community. In this issue of The Currents, you'll find an inspirational testimonial from Rising Tide Entrepreneur Cassandra Scrimmager and learn about Valerie Dixon, the newest Rising Tide Entrepreneur to join Kiva Zip.

We're also featuring stories from some of the women on our team: Alfa shares the story of her mother's journey which inspired her to start Rising Tide Capital, and we interview Communications Director Esther Fraser.

We'd also like to ask you to support one of our Rising Tide Entrepreneurs Tanisha Johnson. Tanisha, the owner of Pleasantly Entertained, is a dynamic entrepreneur who is very active in our community. Recently, she, her husband and two children were displaced by a fire which destroyed all of their belongings. Any donations, large or small, are greatly appreciated. There are two drop off locations:

Location One: 13 Freedom Place in Jersey City
Location Two: U Break It I Fix It at 842 Broadway in Bayonne

If you would like give a monetary donation contact Katia at 973-405-9792 or Kia at 201-736-4700.

Thank you for your support,

The Rising Tide Capital Team

Rising Tide Entrepreneur Cassandra Scrimmager shares her inspirational story of determination and passion in her personal testimonial.

"Nearly 15 years ago, I caught the entrepreneurial bug. I quit my job and started a personal chef service and party planning business. Both businesses failed. Rising Tide Capital wasn't

around back then.

I ended up on welfare for the first time in my life, but as a single mom,

I couldn't just give up."

"Simple Elegance" is now on Kiva Zip

Rising Tide Entrepreneur and jewelry designer Valerie Dixon is now on Kiva Zip! Valerie is looking to raise  $5,000 to open her first store, "Simple Elegance" in downtown Newark and purchase initial supplies.
