Greetings!
Thanks for taking the time to check out our newsletter! Here are a few special winter deals, as well as some useful sewing tips. I have started a new Viking Embroidery Club for 2013 which I believe you will really enjoy. Also, I will be demonstrating some of the new feet recently introduced. There are some great deals on the Viking website at www.MyEmbroideries.com for designs you should pay attention to monthly for wonderful offers. January has a 60% off on designs in the special techniques catagory - see below for details. You may say who needs more designs, but you know the quality and uniqueness of Viking designs. You just "gotta have" the next one, and that is great because you can purchase just one if you desire. And the Embroidery Club design is FREE!
Beginning February 16th through March 16th, Viking will be holding a Trade-in on any brand embroidery software event with rebates available upon purchase of one of the software packages. This event is a great opportunity to update your software or even purchase your initial embroidery software. We offer FREE owner's classes with each purchase.
Time to begin starting new projects, completing others, and daydreaming of future projects. So many of you have told me you are starting your Christmas gifts now for this coming year. Great idea on how to reduce your stress around the holidays.
Save room for some fun stuff. I am planning a new quilting class using a 'tried & truely" accurate technique with beautiful patterns. I will introduce to you soon. I hope you will join us and become a prolific 'quilter" or at least "accurate".
Enjoy!

Designer Machine Updates
Last October Viking introduced several new updates for the Designer series embroidery machines. If you have not installed these updates yourself, I can do it for you for FREE if you purchased your machine from HSC or if you have your machine serviced I will assure it is updated. You can download the update from the www.husqvarnaviking.com and unzip it, then install it in your machine. It is important because these updates offer new features plus some fixes. Please check your machine for the most recent updates. If prior to October 2012, then you need an update. Anyone purchasing the new 80mmx80mm hoop this past fall needs to update their machine before you can use the new hoop. |

Embroidery Class: Wool Purse
Using an old 100% wool sweater which you will "felt" first, we will create a beautiful hand held purse or you can add a strap. You will select your own designs to put on the purse cover-back. I chose a Jenny Haskin's applique flower which is long and scroll like. Very unique finished project. I think you will enjoy using it for a special occasion during the 'winter" months. Pattern is available only in the class.
Class: $25.00
Fridays Jan 25th & Feb 1st OR
Saturdays Jan 26th & Feb 2nd

New Mini Quilts 12"x12"
I have finished a few new mini-quilts in the series - Valentines heart, January snowman, and a cute February penguin. Cute as a button and popular for your 12"x12" mini quilt stand. Kits are available.

Sewing with Jackie
Call and schedule a morning or afternoon when you can come in and sew with me. Receive help doing your project. You bring in your project, sewing tools, and pattern. I will assist you in many aspects of sewing or quilting. I do need to approve the project before we begin so I know it is something I feel I can help you with. Each session will be approximately 2 hours for $15.00.
I can help you improve your accuracy in stippling, free-motion quilting, reading and laying out patterns, embroidery, applique, bindings, or piecing. I do not teach any topic on which I have current classes running. I can however help you to finish a project you started in one of our previous classes, but did not finish. Please call for a time on either Tuesdays or Thursdays, or ocassional free Saturdays. Check out our schedule on www.heirloomsewingcenter.com.
Hope to see you soon.

TIPS for Viking Users Use of New Style bobbins: Since about 1 year or more Viking introduced a new bobbin style (still green or the watercolor bobbins) with a hole through the top of the bobbin for threading your beginning thread through it from inside to outside our out the top of the bobbin. This threading process stops the early prewinding of the leading tale of thread to lock onto the bobbin and cause "jamming" when your bobbin is low and running out during machine embroidery. This jamming often would ruin an entire embroidery so close to being done. I think you have all experienced or caught it catching at some time if you have embroidered "alot". It of course did not always happen, it was susceptable to how you started to wind the bobbin. If you don't know what I am talking about great, but those of you who do know exactly what I am talking about the solution is to use the "new style" bobbin with the whole in the top for all embroidery. This is the best tip for 100% accuracy of finishing your embroidery without incident. Use your older style bobbin for general sewing where the jamming will not occur since you are right there holding the project. Good luck and enjoy your embroidery! New Changable Decorative Guide Foot: This new foot is for your new Changable Walking Foot with the wider stitch width for the newer designers and the snap on different soles. This decorative foot/sole has a center guide with plenty of visibility so you can see your stitches and it keeps you centered to a seam or edge. Use a decorative feather stitch or other and improve your results when using any of the many decorative stitches on your machine. Enjoy your new sewing tools and create some beautiful things! |
