Pittcon Presentations

We had a fantastic time at Pittcon a few weeks ago. While there our team of application experts gave a number of technical poster presentations on the power of LECO elemental analysis instrumentation. Our FP628 Nitrogen/Protein Analyzer was featured in the poster titled, Optimizing a Total Protein Combustion Instrument for Maximum Sample Throughput and Lowest Cost-per-Analysis.

This and are other poster presentations from the conference have been uploaded to our website here, or visit our eposters profile page.

CS844ES for Enhanced Sulfur Sensitivity

We recently released a new solution for carbon and sulfur detection with our CS844ES for enhanced sulfur sensitivity. Available now, the ES option for the CS844 includes updated hardware and software capabilities, and is ideal for the lower detection limit of sulfur in superalloys.

The CS844ES and S844ES instruments are meant to replace the previous CSLS600. To learn more about the 844 series, visit our website here.

New: Organic Reference Material
A new LECO Certified Reference Material (LCRM™) has recently been released as part of the Sulfur in Coal Reference Material Series. This new reference material contains ~0.25% sulfur in coal and is available as Part Number 502-675. With the addition of this reference material the Coal Reference Material Series now offers six discrete sulfur level products ranging from a low of ~0.25% sulfur to a high ~5.0% sulfur. Want to learn more about this and other organic reference materials? Application Notes

Our innovative analytical instrumentation provides users with solutions for a wide range of organic and inorganic applications. We regularly provide examples of the processes, methods of analysis, and results in the form of application notes, so that current and potential customers can ensure they choose the right instrument for the correct application.
Inorganic
Determination of Carbon and Sulfur in Cast Iron
Carbon and sulfur are important to determine as carbon is the main alloying element in cast iron at levels greater than 2%, and sulfur is a contaminant that will prevent the formation of graphite, making the case iron harder. Maintaining and monitoring these levels is essential for cast iron quality and our CS744 can simultaneously detect carbon and sulfur.  Click here to read the application note and learn more about the process for analysis.

Determination of Oxygen and Nitrogen in Graphite and Calcined Coke
Determining oxygen and nitrogen in graphite and calcined coke is a key quality parameter in the steel industry. The LECO TC600 elemental analyzer has the capability to measure oxygen and nitrogen simultaneously with an emphasis on ease-of-use, accuracy, and precision. We've outlined this in the following application note, where you can learn about the process for this analysis, including sample preparation, method parameters, procedure, and more. Read the application note here.

Organic
Nitrogen in Soil and Plant Tissue
The accurate and precise determination of nitrogen in both soil and plant tissue is an important means to correctly diagnose and/or correct a growth issue with the plant. In this application note our TruMac N for macro combustion nitrogen determination was used to analyze plant and soil samples; the sample preparation, accessories, analysis parameters, procedures, and more were highlighted. You can read this application note here.

Determination of Nitrogen in Flour
The protein content of flour is one of the primary constituents that determines its nutritional value and quality. Our TruMac N effectively determines the protein level in flour and in this recent application note the procedure and parameters were outlined for flour analysis.
