Dr. David Alonso of LECO Corporation will present a lunchtime symposium at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville entitled Leveraging Gas Chromatography with High Resolution Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry in Metabolomic and Forensic Applications.

This two-part discussion will include presentations on the following topics:

  • How forensic laboratories can overcome challenges in detecting and characterizing novel drugs such as bath salts, cannibinoids, and "herbal remedies" using gas chromatography with high resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry.
  • What scientists are missing when they use traditional methods to monitor patients' health at medical facilities-and why GC-TOFMS offers a fast and convenient way to see the complete picture in complex biological samples.

Registration is free, and lunch is provided. Space is limited for this event, and registration closes October 1. Click here for more information and to register.

Friday, October 24, 1-5 PM
LECO's Life Science and Chemical Analysis Centre
St. Joseph, MI

Before you head home from upcoming annual meeting of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists, Inc. (SOFT), join us to see what you've been missing in your forensic samples.

Presentations will be held at LECO following the close of the SOFT annual meeting, with round-trip transportation provided between the conference site in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and LECO's Life Science and Chemical Analysis Centre in nearby St. Joseph, Michigan.

Representatives from LECO, Restek, and Gerstel will discuss the use of gas chromatography technology for the analysis of challenging forensic toxicology samples. Attendees will also be able to perform hands-on sample analysis demonstrations on LECO's GC-TOFMS platforms.

Dinner will be provided following the presentations. Registration for this free event closes September 29. Click here for more information or to register.

Applications Spotlight:  olive
Differential Analysis of Olive Oils with Pegasus® GC-HRT
and ChromaTOF-HRT® Reference Feature

This new application note from our Life Science and Chemical Analysis Centre outlines how LECO's analytical tools were used for a non-targeted volatile analysis of aroma and flavor analytes in representative extra-virgin and light olive oil samples from a single manufacturer. These analysis capabilities may help facilitate detection of food fraud by readily distinguishing extra-virgin from light olive oil and other edible oils.
