USHLI Presents Forum on

The Education of Latinos

The USHLI National Conference is proud to partner with Northwestern Mutual in presenting a forum on the Education of Latinos. The forum is scheduled from 10:15-11:45am on Saturday, February 14, during our 33rd National Conference at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers.

The forum will feature Dr. Samuel Betances, one of the top motivational speakers in the country, scholar and author.  The high caliber panel will also include Dr. Emma Sepulveda, an unrelenting advocate for more Latino faculty and administrators, an author, and academician, and Jose Gomez, Director of Leadership Development, Diversity and Inclusion at Northwestern Mutual.

USHLI is pleased to have Northwestern Mutual as the sponsor of this forum on the Education of Latinos, arguably the number one issue facing the Hispanic community today.  While the Education of Latinos is a topic that could be addressed from many angles including parental involvement, early childhood education, the availability and quality of preschool programs, K-12, the lack of Latino teachers, counselors and administrators, the dropout rate, curriculum, equitable funding, access to post-secondary education or training, etc., this forum will focus on a thin slice of the issue that will most directly benefit our conference participants - an overview of the issue, the availability of internships, and the lack of Latino faculty, staff and administrators.
